Information published by media sources on Monday (30/05) reveals that the Federal Government is contemplating a R$ 400 social aid to help truck drivers. Political and economic commentators say that faced with the prospect of diesel shortages in the second half of this year, central authorities have been trying to prevent the fuel crisis from compromising the election year. The shortage could lead to a truck drivers’ strike and damages to the government’s image, in addition to the economic and social impacts.
Budget Management
For the commentators, the cost of an aid to truckers would be R$ 1,5 billion, which could be accommodated in the budget.
