On 8 December, the State Health Secretariat (SES) reported that 1,297 cases of monkeypox were confirmed in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In addition, 346 are still under investigation and another 146 patients are treated as probable cases. In the state, 3,010 cases have already been discarded.
Total Cases and Deaths
Rio has a total of 4,799 reported cases and only five deaths since the beginning of the disease outbreak. Of the six people being treated with Tecovirimat, five have completed the procedure. Data are from the Center for Strategic Information and Health Surveillance Response (CIEVS-RJ).
Main Form of Contagion
The main form of contagion of the disease remains sexual contact, representing 36.55% of cases.
Main Signs of the Disease
Rashes and fever are still the main signs of the disease. In the state, 1,108 cases had sores as a symptom, while 747 people complained of fever.
