OPERATION PATRINUS STRIKES RIO’S MILITARY POLICE AGAIN

The Specialized Public Security Action Group (GAESP) of the Rio de Janeiro State Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPRJ) arrested three Military Police officers on Tuesday morning (30/06) on charges of embezzlement and illegal firearms trafficking. According to prosecutors, the officers misappropriated a firearm seized during a police operation, sold it, and divided the proceeds among themselves. The alleged scheme was uncovered after investigators analyzed the mobile phone of one of the suspects and obtained access to the financial records of those under investigation. Messages, photographs, and audio recordings recovered from the device allegedly document the negotiation and sale of the seized weapon.
