According to the Conselho Penitenciário do Estado do Rio (Cperj) report from July 2026, a new criminal faction named Primeiro Comando do Golpe has emerged inside Rio de Janeiro’s prison system as a dissident splinter of the Povo de Israel (PVI). The group’s rise has triggered internal violence, beatings, and death threats across overcrowded facilities of the Gericinó Penitentiary Complex. Intelligence units have identified at least 60 members involved in the dispute, prompting the State Penitentiary Secretariat (Seppen) to isolate ringleaders in special disciplinary units to contain the instability.

31/08/2026 – On Monday (13), Civil Police intelligence officers arrested a key operative for the Comando Vermelho (CV) from Rio Grande do Norte along the Copacabana beachfront. Known as “warrior” for leading violent territorial invasions against rival factions, including targeted attacks in late 2025 in Natal, the suspect was hiding out in the nearby Pavão-Pavãozinho and Cantagalo communities. Supported by local area battalions and special operations units, Bope forces will use the encampment as a launchpad to patrol strategic transit corridors and intercept criminal movement along forest trails, following a preliminary raid in nearby Tijuquinha that yielded multiple rifles, shotguns, and ammunition.
