27/04/2024 – A man was robbed in front of his residence in Vila São Jorge, West Santos. He was parking his motorcycle when two bandits on a motorcycle attacked the victim. They took his vehicle and his cell phone.

29/04/2024 – An elderly couple who rode a bicycle were assaulted and robbed by minors in José Menino, on Santos beach. After a chase, the minors were captured by agents of the Police Special Actions Battalion (Baep) in São Vicente. The stolen belongings were recovered.
30/04/2024 – A man, still unidentified, died during a confrontation with military police in Morro do São Bento, central area of Santos. According to the police, the shooting occurred around 1:50 on Tuesday (30/04), near Rua São Domingos. Agents were patrolling the region when they found a man with a backpack acting suspiciously. Upon noticing the vehicle approaching, the man fled. PMs began to follow him until the moment when he and his accomplices began to shoot. The PMs retaliated and hit one of them.
02/05/2024 – A 37-year-old man was wounded in the head and neck with a knife on Thursday night (05/02), on Rua Armando Salles de Oliveira, in the Boqueirão neighborhood, in Santos. The assault was committed by his partner, a 31-year-old transgender woman, who fled. The case is being investigated. According to the police report, a team from the Military Police (PM) was patrolling the neighborhood when they saw the man lying on the street.
04/05/2024 – A man was filmed sexually abusing a homeless woman on a sidewalk on Braz Cubas Street, in downtown Santos. In the video, which is circulating on social media, the woman appears lying on a piece of cardboard, with the man sitting behind her. At one point, he touches the victim’s intimate parts, who ‘pushes’ him with his legs. In the sequence, the man is seen making an improvised ‘hut’ out of cardboard next to a wall. On the spot, they have sexual intercourse. In a statement, the São Paulo Department of Public Security (SSP-SP) said that the 1st Police District of Santos is analyzing the images to identify the man.
05/05/2024 – The 6th Battalion of the Military Police of Santos, in Gonzaga, was the target of theft of weapons and ammunition last Sunday (05/05). The Military Police and the Civil Police opened investigations to investigate the crime and identify those responsible. According to the investigations, a closet was broken into and two Glock .40 pistols from the Military Police were taken, as well as 12 magazines and 210 rounds of ammunition of the same caliber, two 9mm pistol magazines, 24 rounds of ammunition, and a bulletproof vest. The crime would have occurred during the night and was only noticed in the morning. The site has surveillance cameras, but the equipment does not record the images.
08/05/2024 – Part of the weapons stolen from the Military Police Battalion in Santos was found in a soldier’s house. The Military Police (PM) managed to find part of the weapons that had disappeared on Sunday (05/05) from a closet of the 6th Battalion of the Military Police of the Interior, located on Avenida Ana Costa, in the Gonzaga neighborhood, in Santos.
10/05/2024 – The Court of Military Justice of São Paulo decreed, on Friday afternoon (10/05), the preventive detention of the soldier of the Military Police (PM) suspected of stealing weapons and ammunition from the 6th Battalion of the Military Police (6th BPM) of Santos. According to the investigations, a locker was broken into, and two Glocks were taken. In addition, ammunition and a bulletproof vest were also stolen. Vanessa Rezende’s fingerprints were found on the broken-into lockers. The investigation also points to the possibility of complicity of other people in the crime.
11/05/2024 – A 15-year-old girl was called a “slut” and threatened by a 43-year-old man on her way home from school in Ponta da Praia, East Santos. According to the police report, the teenager was walking down the street towards her building when she saw the suspect, who started calling her a “slut” while shouting that people “wanted to kill him.” Before the girl crossed the road, the man swore at her again and told her to run. He also clenched his fists, implying that he was going to assault her. The man was in the same neighborhood and underwent a personal search before being arrested. A wooden spike was seized.
11/05/2024 – A 30-year-old woman was reported for mistreatment of her 2-year-old son inside the Miramar shopping mall in the Gonzaga neighborhood on Saturday (05/11). The Military Police would have been called by people who were in the shopping center and witnessed the aggression. When approached, she refused to say what had happened and began to utter profanity to the police. She was hospitalized and sent to the psychiatric ward.
12/05/2024 – A 43-year-old woman claims to have been ‘spied on’ by a drone while she was half-naked inside her home, on Sunday (05/12) in Santos. Frightened, she recorded the moment when the equipment flew over the property. Camila lives in a two-story house in the Vila Belmiro neighborhood. According to her, the ‘spying’ happened during the night, while she was distracted at home. On Sunday, journalist Cidinha Santos, 67, also saw a drone ‘spying’ on the building where she lives, in the Ponta da Praia neighborhood. According to her, the situation at the site is recurrent and even happens at ‘punctual’ times. In addition to Camila and Cidinha, a resident of the Marapé neighborhood, who preferred not to be identified, said she had gone through the same situation in March.
26/05/2024 – A 63-year-old woman was kidnapped and robbed as she left home to work on Rua Doutor Francisco de Souza Dantas, in the Marapé neighborhood of Santos, on Sunday (26/05). The entire action was caught by the surveillance cameras and the victim had three bank cards and R$ 2,000 in cash stolen. She was also forced to make bank transfers of R$25,000. The Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) said the victim was approached by two individuals, who have not yet been identified after another vehicle collided with hers. After handing over her belongings and money, she was released on Missionaries Street.
28/05/2024 – The Civil Police arrested, on Tuesday (28/05), two women who helped the mother who disappeared with her son after forcibly taking him from his paternal grandmother in Santos. The women are the aunts of the five-year-old. The police informed that the two women, 44 and 49 years old, were arrested for the crimes of kidnapping and private imprisonment.
28/05/2024 – The Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) was activated, last Tuesday (28), by two guardianship counselors to provide support to an action at the suspect’s home, in the Estuário neighborhood, after receiving a complaint from the victim’s school. The child’s mother informed the police that her daughter reported the abuse committed by her stepfather when they were alone at home. The woman also reported that she suffered verbal and physical aggression from her husband.
29/05/2024 – A man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday (29/05) after breaking into and stealing copper wiring from a health center in Santos. The arrest took place at the Integrated Center for Specialties and Rehabilitation (Serfis-Zoi) of the city hall, on Avenida Conselheiro Nébias, in the Paquetá neighborhood. According to the municipal administration, professionals from the Operational Control Center (CCO) saw the criminal action through the monitoring cameras.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponto da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo and others.
- The waterfront has many incidents of opportunistic thefts, never display wealth and avoid walks there during the night.
- Residences in the of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves. Make sure your building is well protected.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, mobile phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and that negotiation may be lengthy.
