Police stations in downtown São Paulo recorded a 76% increase in robberies between January and June this year compared to the same period last year. Approaches take place at different times of the day, with criminals on foot and on bicycles. They attack in groups formed by adults, teenagers, and children. Always with enough violence, the gangs only finish the attack after stealing what they want.
31/07/2022 – Armed criminals robbed two jewelry stores at Shopping Central Plaza, East Zone. After taking the employees hostage, the criminals placed the products inside bags. According to police, there was a shooting, and a security guard was hit in the foot.

01/08/2022 – A 15-year-old teenager was apprehended and a 19-year-old suspect was arrested after robbing an elderly couple, in Freguesia do Ó, North Zone. According to information from the Civil Police, the couple was going out to dinner with their grandchildren when they were approached by the duo, who stole the victims’ belongings and vehicle.
01/08/2022 – A charred body was found in Vila Andrade, Zona Sul. Teams from the Fire Department, Military Police and Civil Police were called and found the body on a sidewalk on Maria Antônio Ladalardo street next to a gallon of liquid similar to gasoline. The case will be investigated by the State Department of Homicide and Protection of Persons (DHPP).
01/08/2022 – A man was shot dead after an argument in a bar located on Cursino Avenue, in the Bosque da Saúde region, South Zone. Military Police reported that there was an argument between two men inside the establishment, when one of them threatened the other, saying he would look for a weapon at home. The man, moments later, returned armed. People who were at the bar, in an attempt to defend themselves, took the object from his hand and shot him.
Our analysis:
Arguments and fights in bars and night parties are common due to the amount of people and the consumption of alcoholic beverages. It is necessary to take some precautions so that the night does not end in trouble:
- Don’t overdo the alcoholic drink: drinking moderately will make you enjoy the night even better and with full awareness of everything around you
- Pay attention to the environment: if you notice the beginning of a fight, leave as soon as possible
- Take it easy with the crowds: bars and nightclubs are environments that usually bring together many people and adverse situations, such as small bumps, can happen. Try to let go to avoid fights
- Seek help: if you are provoked, attacked or find yourself in the middle of a fight, do not fight back and seek help from establishment security team
02/08/2022 – Three suspects were arrested after kidnapping and extorting a perfume seller in Cidade Dutra, South Zone. According to Military Police, officers were patrolling along Teotônio Vilela Avenue, when they observed a suspect withdrawing money from an ATM. Due to the time police decided to approach him. He confessed that he was holding a kidnapped man in captivity on Archote in Peru Street, near the CPTM’s Primavera-Interlagos station. Officers moved to the address and managed to locate the victim, who was with two other criminals.
02/08/2022 – Police officers from the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic) arrested the operator of a robbery, drug trafficking, money laundering and fraud scheme. Activities ranged from attacks using motorcycles, using information from victims in scams to the cocaine and super-marijuana trade known as K2. The suspect was arrested in Vila Joaniza, South Zone, for trafficking five types of illicit substances.
02/08/2022 – Four men were arrested on suspicion of robberies in front of the Anhangabaú Metro station, in downtown São Paulo. According to information, security officials at the station noticed the suspects, recognized them as responsible for robberies in the surroundings of the site and notified the police.
03/08/2022 – An elderly woman was robbed after withdrawing money from the bank in the Jabaquara neighborhood, South Zone. The lady tried to resist and even fought with the criminal.
03/08/2022 – A pharmacy clerk was shot dead while leaving work in Tremembé, North Zone of São Paulo. Security cameras show when the young man was on his way to the bus stop to return home and a car stops at the corner, the passenger door opens and from inside the vehicle a man shoots. According to the family, he was a hardworking boy and had no enemies.
03/08/2022 – A passenger was stabbed during a robbery inside Estação da Luz, in the area of line 1-Blue of the Metro, in downtown São Paulo. According to the Metro press office, the victim was at the access to Paula Souza Street, when he was approached by three men. One of them was armed with a knife. The passenger reacted to the robbery, holding the knife in his hands. After taking the cell phone, the robber pulled the sharp object, injuring the victim. The trio then managed to escape.
04/08/2022 – A fight on the street took place in the middle of the night in Pari neighborhood, downtown São Paulo. According to information, the confusion arose because of the noise made by a group of foreigners who had just left a nightclub, some residents felt uncomfortable and went out to complain.
04/08/2022 – An app driver was released by the Military Police after being the victim of three kidnappers. The kidnapping took place in Alto de Pinheiros neighborhood, West Zone of São Paulo. The police arrived at the place of captivity thanks to an audio message that the woman shared with her boyfriend at the time of the criminals’ action. She was held captive in a favela in Jaguaré, also in the West Zone. When the police arrived in the favela, there was a shooting that resulted in two thieves being injured. The third one was arrested.
04/08/2022 – A man was released by the Military Police (PM) after being kidnapped in the Brasilândia region, North Zone. According to police, the man arranged a meeting with an alleged woman through a dating app. Upon arriving at the marked location, he was captured by a group of four men and placed in the back seat of a car. The man was being taken into captivity when, on the way, the car with the criminals and the victim was intercepted by a police car, which suspected the attitude of the group’s members.

You have to be careful when it comes to meeting new people, especially online. Before meeting the person, you need to take some care to make sure that the person is really who they are demonstrating to be. The first step is to confirm that the information on the app belongs to the person who is talking to you. A common tactic of fake profiles is copying someone else’s identity. They reproduce updates, including photos, to help keep up the fraud. Search the name and use Google image search tools to ensure the photos are unique and not being used in other accounts. Also look for social media, Facebook, Instagram and especially Linkedin. And when it’s time to meet with the person, choose a public place. And always tell someone you trust.
04/08/2022 – A police officer reacted after suffering an attempted robbery inside the Higienópolis-Mackenzie station, on Line 4 – Yellow of the Metro, in downtown São Paulo. According to a note from ViaQuatro, the concessionaire responsible for operating the line, the approach to the police officer, who was in plain clothes, was made by three people, at the access to Visconde de Ouro Preto Street.
