01/11/2024 – Military Police acted, on Friday (01/11), in the community of Passaterra, on Ilha Grande, in response to complaints from residents who were suspicious of the behavior of three individuals looking for empty houses to take shelter. The team went to the scene and found the suspects with drugs, a hatchet, and a diving gun equipped with a harpoon.

02/11/2024 – On Saturday night (02/11), during a patrol on the Rio-Santos Highway (BR-101), at kilometer 507, between Bracuí and Frade, police officers from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) arrested two drug traffickers. During the search, they seized approximately 800 pins of cocaine.
02/11/2024 – Military Police of the 33rd BPM arrested, on Saturday night (02/11), a fugitive from justice in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. He was captured at an inn in Praia da Biscaia, located on Avenida Antônio Bertoldo da Silva, in the Ponta Leste neighborhood.
07/11/2024 – An Australian tourist was the victim of rape, on Thursday (07/11), on Ilha Grande. According to information, the tourist was attacked on a trail to access the Feiticeira Waterfall. The Military Police arrested a Uruguayan, resident of Vila do Abraão. According to the PM, he has an extensive criminal record in his country, with 43 notes.
10/11/2024 – Military Police of the 33rd BPM carried out an operation in Morro da Glória I on Sunday (10/11) and seized a large quantity of drugs and related materials. During the operation, 68 tablets of varying sizes were seized.
11/11/2024 – A house near Armação, on Ilha da Gipóia, was invaded in the early hours of Monday (11/11) by five hooded and armed men. The employees were taken hostage while the gang robbed the property, fleeing in a speedboat that also belongs to the site. Two members of the gang have already been arrested by the Civil Police.
11/11/2024 – Agents of the 33rd BPM arrested an 18-year-old for drug trafficking in Bracuí, in the late afternoon of Monday (11/11). The police caught the individual with a stall full of assorted drugs, near the municipal school in the neighborhood. 20/11/2024 – An operation by the Civil Police arrested, on Wednesday (20/11), a motorcycle taxi driver for association with drug trafficking. He would be photographing and identifying the residence of an agent of the 166th DP and passing on the information to the drug lord in Morro da Glória 1. The trafficker is on the run and lives in hiding in Rio de Janeiro but continues to command criminal actions in Angra, including threats to police officers.
25/11/2024 – On Sunday (25/11), agents of the 33rd BPM arrested a 21-year-old man accused of drug trafficking on Rua 12 de Outubro, in the Campo Belo neighborhood. The suspect was caught selling cocaine. Upon noticing the approach of the police, he tried to flee, but he was captured.
26/11/2024 – On Tuesday (26/11) morning, Civil Police arrested a man who failed to comply with a protective order, on Portugal Street, in the Frade neighborhood. According to the Corporation, the man is the victim’s ex-partner and had disrespected the protective order that prevented him from approaching her.
29/11/2024 – The Military Police arrested on Thursday (29/11) a suspected member of drug trafficking in Morro da Fortaleza. The approach was during patrol in the locality. According to the police, he confessed to being a drug user and being part of the faction. With him, the police seized a radio transmitter.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking are also registered almost every month.
- In the case you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek a solid cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- If your are in your car, the engine block is a good barrier behind which you could seek protection.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba, Japuíba, Frade and Morro da Glória I and II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of property crimes, thefts and robberies.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
