01/08/2026 – A 33-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her 38-year-old ex-partner on Saturday (1st), on Avenida Rui Barbosa, in downtown Macaé. The attack occurred as the victim arrived for work outside a store, despite having an active urgent protective order issued under the Maria da Penha Law since June. The suspect, who attempted suicide following the stabbing, was taken under police custody to the Macaé Public Hospital (HPM). Officers from the 123rd Police District (123ª DP) seized the murder weapon and are conducting forensic analysis and reviewing security footage to process the suspect for femicide upon his release from the hospital.

04/08/2026 – On Tuesday (4), Federal Highway Police (PRF) officers arrested a driver after discovering approximately 14 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside his vehicle. Acting on intelligence, agents intercepted the car along the RJ-168 highway around 7:30. After the driver refused to identify himself, a detailed inspection revealed a hidden compartment beneath the vehicle’s compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinder containing five packages of cocaine. The driver was arrested in flagrante delicto, and both the suspect and narcotics were transferred to the Federal Police Station for further investigation into the origin and destination of the shipment.
06/08/2026 – On Thursday (6), the Civil Police initiated an investigation into rumors surrounding a 13-year-old student, following conflicting reports of kidnapping and sexual violence on social media. According to authorities, the teenager fell ill with tremors and anxiety while at school in the Visconde de Araújo neighborhood on Monday (3), leading staff to call SAMU for transport to the Municipal Public Hospital (HPM). Initial medical assessments found no signs of sexual violence, and on Thursday morning, the student underwent a formal forensic examination at the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to determine whether any assault or prior confrontation occurred.
