29/10/2026 – On Thursday (29), approximately 600 municipal guards in Santos, on São Paulo’s coast, were considering a strike over potential salary reductions of up to 50% starting in November. The dispute follows a court ruling ordering the elimination of two salary bonuses, including the Special Work Regime Allowance (RET). Following a protest at the City Council on Tuesday (27), Mayor Rogério Santos pledged to prevent salary cuts, while the municipal administration began developing a replacement allowance requiring legislative approval. Despite the assurance, the municipal guards scheduled a union assembly for Thursday evening (29) to decide whether to proceed with a strike or further demonstrations. Union representatives also highlighted a November 6 judicial deadline and warned that the proposed compensation mechanism had yet to be finalized, leaving the possibility of industrial action unresolved.
