01/03/2023 – A man was found dead on the side of highway, in Cidade Pomar, Serra, on the morning of Wednesday (01). The victim, who has not been identified, was shot several times.

04/03/2023 – A shooting that took place in a square in the Parque Residencial Tubarão neighborhood, in Serra, ended with four people shot and one dead. Among the injured were three children. The 31-year-old man was shot and died.
06/03/2023 – A funk singer, known as MC Zafá, aged 21, died after being shot on Sunday night (5), in Parque Jacaraípe, in Serra. So far, there is no information about what would have motivated the murder.
10/03/2023 – About 10 armed and hooded criminals invaded a farm and took a caretaker hostage, at dawn on Thursday (9), in the rural area of Serra, near Serra Sede. The worker was tied up inside a bathroom and the group left a loss of R$ 300,000.
13/03/2023 – Mother and daughter were robbed on the BR-101, in the Jardim Tropical region, in Serra. The two victims were walking near a bus stop, when they were surrendered by the robbers. They stole belongings from the two, but were soon captured by the police.
19/03/2023 – A 26-year-old young man was murdered with several shots in the middle of the street, on Sunday afternoon (19), in the Planalto Serrano neighborhood, in Serra. According to witnesses, the street was full of people at the time of the crime, including children.
25/03/2023 – A young man, aged 18, was stabbed to death early Saturday morning (25) in the Vista da Serra I neighborhood, in Serra. The crime suspect is the ex-boyfriend of the woman with whom the young man had been related for about two months.
26/03/2023 – A 56-year-old man was shot inside the Carapina Terminal, in the Rosário de Fátima neighborhood, in Serra. The crime took place on the street of the Homicide and Person Protection Police Station and the victim and the suspect ran past the scene.
28/03/2023 – A group of passengers on a Transcol bus was robbed and one of the victims was stabbed in the hand, on Tuesday night (28), in the municipality of Serra. The bus chosen by the suspect was the 540, which runs between Cariacica and Serra, through the Contorno Highway.
29/03/2023 – An exchange of fire between a criminal police officer and three men, early Wednesday night (29), ended with one of the suspects dead, in Central Carapina, Serra. According to the police, the agent works in a prison located in the district of Queimados.
30/03/2023 – Three men were ambushed and had their car machine-gunned when taking a shortcut last Wednesday night (30), on the banks of the Contorno Highway, in Serra. Minutes earlier, a police officer had experienced the same attack by other suspects.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Robberies and thefts against pedestrians are among the city’s major risks, the Parque Residencial das Laranjeiras, Jardim Limoeiro, Carapina, Região das Laranjeiras and Novo Horizonte concentrate the highest number of incidents.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as he or she might not be alone or turn violent.
- Violent drug trafficking gangs are present in the city. People must never access areas controlled by them, such as Bairro de Fátima, Helio Ferraz, Jardim Carapina, all Novas Carapinas, Boa Vista, and São Diogo.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout: Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move unless you are sure that the gunfire has ended.
- Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas or beaches after nightfall.
- Be always cautious, even in the areas considered safe.
