05/07/2023 – Civil police arrested two criminals, aged 19 and 21, for aggravated homicide and torture. The arrests took place after investigation by the unit’s homicide team. The victim was approached on a street in the Granja dos Cavaleiros neighborhood after being mistaken for a police officer.

08/07/2023 – A woman was arrested after stealing two cell phones at a store in downtown Macaé. She was arrested by a team from Operation Present Security in Macaé. According to police, she has 13 criminal notes.
08/07/2023 – A woman was shot dead in Praça do Piche, in the Parque Aeroporto neighborhood. According to information, the criminals responsible for the crime fled and there is no information available about the authorship and motivation of the crime.
25/07/2023 – On Tuesday (25/07), during the afternoon, a man stole a woman’s cell phone in downtown Macaé. The suspect fled when he saw a police car, but he was later arrested.
29/07/2023 – One man carried out a series of cell phone thefts in São José do Barreto neighborhood, during the Expo Macaé, a local fair. He was later arrested after investigations. Five cell phones were recovered.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda de Baixo, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Fronteira, Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Parque Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be careful when walking downtown, avoid exposing valuables.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
