On Thursday (02/06), news outlets informed that the government is pushing for the resignation of the current president of Petrobras, José Mauro Ferreira Coelho. The government wants to speed up the voting process for the nominee, Caio Paes de Andrade. However, Ferreira Coelho has already warned that he will not resign. Without a resignation, the government must wait for the normal procedures for the vote on Andrade, which can take anywhere from 45 days to 60 days. The same pressure was applied at the time of the former president of the state-owned company, Joaquim Silva e Luna, but he also resisted.
Motivation
Analysts evaluate that the government is in a hurry to change the command of the company because it wants to increase the time interval between price adjustments, trying to avoid, for example, new increases during the election period.
