COVID-19 UPDATE

On Wednesday (24/08), São Paulo city released a health protocol with recommendations for the prevention and control of monkeypox in establishments such as restaurants, supermarkets, gyms and hotels. Among the measures is the use of masks, as happened with the Covid pandemic. The capital has 1,912 cases of the disease, 32 more than the total released last Tuesday (23) and is one of the two locations in the country with a record of cases in babies.

According to data released by the Health Secretaries National Council (Conass) and the Health Ministry, during the 139th (21 to 27 August) epidemiological week, the number of new Covid-19 confirmed cases in Brazil decreased by 11,64% when compared to the 138th (14 to 20 August) week. In terms of deaths of patients with Covid-19, a 12,21% decrease was registered while compared to the 138th week.

According to information released by the Our World in Data webpage on Sunday (21/07), Brazil has 171,45 million people fully vaccinated or 80% of its total population. Brazil has approximately 212 million citizens, according to IBGE. Worldwide, 62,17% (4,92 billion) of people are fully vaccinated. Below, the graph with Brazil and other nations.
