Petrobras again reduced the price of gasoline for distributors. It’s the third reduction in less than a month. This time, the reduction, which became valid on Tuesday (16/08), will be R$ 0.18 per liter or 4.85%.
On Monday (15/08), the price of oil fell sharply after the release of data indicating a weak development of the Chinese economy. The price of gasoline will drop from R$3.71 to R$3.53 per liter at refineries. For the consumer, the drop will not be of the same magnitude, as the final price at the pump is made up of other factors, such as taxes and distributors’ profits.
The Country’s Official Inflation Rate (IPCA)
The fall reinforces the negative result that analysts predict for the IPCA, which measures the country’s official inflation, for August. Last month, gasoline was one of the main factors that pulled the index down.
