SHORTAGE OF MEDICINES IN RIO DE JANEIRO

On Tuesday 24^th, it was announced that the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) faces a shortage of medicines and supplies, some of which are basic, in its health facilities. The situation is apparently related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. While the rise in hydrocarbon prices has caused problems in the packaging and logistics sector, the pandemic has altered supply chains and manufacturing facilities from producing low-value-added medicines to producing vaccines and medicines against COVID-19. The situation has also been reported in other countries, such as the United States.
