MORE FLOODS LET RIO GRANDE DO SUL ON ALERT

After heavy rains over the weekend, Rio Grande do Sul begins this week on alert due to a significant increase in the volume of rain, rising river levels, and the imminent risk of landslides. There is a forecast of a possible new historic flood in Porto Alegre, with the estimate that the level of Lake Guaíba could reach 5.5 meters in the next 48 hours, surpassing the previous peak of 5.3 meters recorded on 5 May. Furthermore, the Taquari and Caí rivers overflowed again, causing new floods in the interior of the state. The situation is also worrying in the south of the state, where Lagoa dos Patos is located, which receives water from the Guaíba and continues to rise constantly. Pelotas and Rio Grande have already recorded flooding.
