In the capital of Rio de Janeiro, the North Zone is the region with the highest number of cases of tuberculosis in the city. According to data from the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS-Rio), the neighborhood of Jacaré has the highest rate of confirmed diagnoses per 100,000 inhabitants in the municipality.

The affected areas are neighborhoods that make up slum complexes. The SMS-Rio survey has data from 2021, which also indicate other neighborhoods in the region, such as Bonsucesso, Benfica Mangueira, São Cristóvão and Água Santa.
Second Most Affected Zone
The second region of Rio with the highest number of cases was the West Zone, where the most worrying records were from Cidade de Deus and Bangu. In the South Zone, Rocinha stands out.
