On Tuesday (01/11), after a 45-hour silence that began with the result of the second round, President Jair Bolsonaro made a statement in which he condemned roadblocks set up by his supporters against Lula’s election and spoke of indignation and injustice with the election in which he was defeated.
No Mentions of Lula or Acknowledgment of his Defeat
Bolsonaro did not mention Lula at any time or make a clear acknowledgment of the defeat last Sunday (30/10). However, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) informed, through an official note on Tuesday (01/11), that President Jair Bolsonaro recognized the final result of the elections “by determining the beginning of the government transition”.
Respect for the Constitution
Bolsonaro also stated that he will continue to fulfill all the commandments of our Constitution. He thanked the 58 million voters who voted for him, and said he had to “face the whole system” and extolled the large number of right-wing congressmen elected for the Congress – PL alone, Bolsonaro’s Party, elected 99 federal deputies and 14 senators, the party with the biggest number of politicians elected in both houses of Congress.
