On Tuesday (26/07), the World Health Organization (WHO) issued an alert about the situation of monkeypox in Brazil. The entity’s technical leader for the disease, Rosamund Lewis, said the situation in the country is “very worrying”. According to WHO monitoring, Brazil had the eighth highest number of cases of the disease in the world in the middle of July, when 592 infections had been recorded in the country. On Monday (25/07), the Health Ministry already recorded 696 cases. The organization’s expert also noted that cases in the country may be underreported due to lack of testing.
