According to media sources, the edge of Copacabana beach, in the South Zone of the state capital, will host at least two acts on 7 September.
The Civic-Military Act
The first act will be civic-military, at 15h, at Forte de Copacabana. There will be the presence of members of the Army, Navy and Air Force, who plan a naval parade, an air show by the Esquadrilha da Fumaça, a presentation by military bands and a gun salute. Other activities are still analyzed by the Ministry of Defense (MD), depending on technical feasibility, such as the jump of civilian and military paratroopers.
The Political Act
The second act will be political, on Avenida Atlântica. In this event, the President of the Republic and candidate for reelection plans to gather his voters around a stage.
Chances of a Radical Movement
On 19 August, according to a report by the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo, military intelligence had detected the possibility of radical movements in support of the President of the Republic seeking to infiltrate the 7 September traditional parade in Rio de Janeiro downtown, with the objective of provoking riot and advocating an unconstitutional military intervention. The aforementioned radical movements were not specified. Such an alert, according to the newspaper, would have been decisive for the cancellation of the traditional military parade, both in the central area of the capital and on the edge of Copacabana.
