16/04/2025 – On Wednesday (16), a man identified as the leader of drug trafficking in Sapinhatuba III was arrested during a patrol in Nova Iguaçu, Baixada Fluminense. He attempted to mislead officers by presenting a fake driver’s license, but was taken to the police station, where his real identity was confirmed. He was found to be wanted for drug trafficking and homicide, with two outstanding warrants issued in 2024.

17/04/2025 – A man was arrested on Thursday (17), during a police operation on Ilha Comprida, near the popular tourist area of Ilha da Gipóia. He was caught with 40 kg of cocaine and a large quantity of drug packaging materials. The suspect was taken to the 166th Police Station and charged with drug trafficking. This was the second major drug seizure in Angra during the Easter holiday; earlier in the week, officers had uncovered a drug lab in a wooded area of the Bracuí neighborhood, though no arrests were made in that case.
18/04/2025 – A man was arrested on Friday (18) on Rua Prefeito João Gregório Galindo, in the Morro da Glória area. He is accused of killing a 46-year-old woman by strangling her with a wire in her home in the Encruzo da Enseada neighborhood during the night of April 11 to 12. According to police, the suspect stole the victim’s car and fled with bottles of alcohol, which he later sold to fund his escape to Itaguaí (RJ). Security camera footage and witness testimony helped identify the suspect, who initially denied the murder but confessed during questioning. He is also under investigation for a separate child sexual abuse case and remains in custody at the 166th DP, where the crime is being investigated as a possible femicide.
23/04/2025 – A shootout broke out on Wednesday (23) in Morro do Santo Antônio, after undercover officers from the 33rd Military Police Battalion were attacked while responding to reports of drug trafficking. Three armed men opened fire as police approached, prompting officers to return fire. Following the confrontation, four suspects were arrested while attempting to flee and hide in an abandoned house. A sweep of the location led to the seizure of marijuana, crack, cocaine, ecstasy, bottles of ether and a radio transmitter. All detainees were taken to the 166th Police Station and remain in custody.
