02/12/2024 – On Monday (02/12), agents of the 33rd BPM arrested a 40-year-old fugitive from justice, in a bar on Rua Portugal, in Frade. He had an open preventive arrest warrant for scams. The suspect also has several passages with the police for threat, theft, attempted murder, robbery, bodily injury, injury, and homicide.

02/12/2024 – On Monday (02/12), agents of the 33rd BPM arrested a 21-year-old fugitive from justice on Rua da Limeira, in Parque Mambucaba. According to the PM, he showed nervousness with the arrival of the police. In addition, he had an electronic ankle bracelet turned off. The police consulted the records and saw that the young man was on the run for the crime of drug trafficking.
06/12/2024 – In an operation in Sapinhatuba 2, on Friday (06/12), Civil Police arrested five drug traffickers linked to TCP. The police went to the scene to verify a trafficking complaint and spotted the suspects in the middle of a load of cocaine. They admitted that they belonged to drug trafficking and that, moments before, they had delivered a load worth R$ 1,500. Cocaine was also seized.
09/12/2024 – Agents of the 33rd BPM carried out an operation in Bracuí, on Monday (09/12), and arrested four traffickers. During the approach, cash and various drugs were found with the suspects: marijuana, crack, cocaine, ecstasy, and hashish.
12/12/2024 – Military Police of the 33rd BPM, informed by an anonymous tip, carried out an operation on Thursday (12/12), at Araçatiba Beach, where they seized weapons, ammunition, and camouflage uniforms. On approach, the criminal confessed to having hunting weapons in his residence. There, weapons, camouflage uniforms, and materials for assembling trebuchets were found.
13/12/2024 – An operation by the Municipal Department of Public Security with police officers from the 166th DP, seized, on Friday (13/12), dozens of airsoft guns, without orange tips and documentation, in the stalls of the Feast of Our Lady of Conception, which were operating in Praia do Anil.
14/12/2024 – An integrated action of the Municipal Department of Public Security and the Military Police was carried out on Saturday morning (14/12), in Vila do Abraão, on Ilha Grande. Residents and visitors were searched when disembarking at Abraão Station, the main gateway to Ilha Grande. The operation also had the help of the Dog Action Battalion, and its main objective was to repress the arrival of narcotics and weapons.
19/12/2024 – The Civil Police and the City Hall carried out an operation on Thursday (19/12) against the “Christmas’ rolezinhos” (a motorcyclist meeting). Agents are serving search and seizure warrants in eight neighborhoods of the city, such as Japuíba and Bracuí. By noon, at least five motorcycles were seized.
21/12/2024 – A man tried to kill his wife and commit suicide on Saturday morning (21/12) in Morro do Santo Antônio, Centro. After negotiation by the BOPE, the suspect surrendered and was arrested on charges of attempted murder against his wife. A knife was seized.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking are also registered almost every month.
- In the case you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek a solid cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- If your are in your car, the engine block is a good barrier behind which you could seek protection.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba, Japuíba, Frade and Morro da Glória I and II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of property crimes, thefts and robberies.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
