01/07/2023 – A criminal involved in drug trafficking was shot during a shooting with military police on Morro da Glória I. The Military Police went to the address to make a routine patrol. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were met with gunfire and fought back. A rifle, a replica of the weapon and two grenades were seized.
03/07/2023 – Two criminals were shot and killed on Morro do Sapinhatuba 3. According to the Military Police, officers were on patrol when they were attacked by gunfire and shot back. There was intense confrontation. With them, two pistols, a radio communicator, ammunition, marijuana, cocaine, and crack were seized.
05/07/2023 – Two criminals involved in drug trafficking died during a shooting with Military Police (PM) in Morro da Glória II. According to the PM, officers were on patrol around the area when they were shot at by armed men. A pistol, a grenade, two communicator radios and drugs were seized.
11/07/2023 – A criminal involved in drug trafficking died during a shooting with Military Police in the Sapinhatuba III neighborhood. Officers went to the address to make a routine round. Upon arriving at the scene, they were met with gunfire and fought back. A gun and two communication radios were seized from the criminal.
19/07/2023 – Two criminals involved in drug trafficking were shot in a shooting with Military Police in Morro da Glória II. According to the Military Police, officers were on patrol when they were shot at by two armed men. The police fought back and there was a confrontation. Two guns and drugs were seized from them.
28/07/2023 – Military police officers on patrol in the Parque Mambucaba neighborhood in Angra dos Reis/RJ, on the green coast, on Friday (28/07), arrested a woman for aggravated robbery and apprehended two minors suspected of drug trafficking on Rua Mário das Graças Toledo. According to the police, information arrived, through an anonymous complaint, that drug sales was taking place.
30/07/2023 – Two suspects were injured in a shootout against military policemen on Sunday morning (30/07). According to the Military Police, they left the Lambicada neighborhood armed and planned to steal cars on the BR-101 (Rio-Santos Highway). Before any theft was carried out, the criminals were located by the agents. When they noticed the presence of the vehicles, they started the armed confrontation.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking were also registered this month.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba and Morro da Glória I e II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of petty crimes.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
