23/06/2022 – A drug trafficking suspect died after a shooting with Military Police (PM) in Bracuí neighborhood. Officers were patrolling the address when they were shot at and retaliated. PM also seized a scale, ammunition, radio devices and tubes for packing drugs.

30/06/2022 – A man, who was a fugitive from justice for involvement with drug trafficking, was arrested in Campo Belo neighborhood. According to Military Police, agents were doing a routine patrol of the locality when they spotted the man. He was a member of a criminal faction and managed drug trafficking in Morro da Glória I and II.
01/07/2022 – A shooting between drug traffickers and military police ended with a man dead in the Areal neighborhood. According to Military Police, agents were routinely patrolling the BR-101, when they spotted a group of armed individuals. As they approached, the criminals shot and the police retaliated. After the confrontation, agents found a man lying on the ground along with a pistol, 18 rounds of ammunition and a radio transmitter.
09/07/2022 – A shooting between a suspected member of a drug gang and the Military Police ended with a man wounded in Morro da Glória II neighborhood. According to the Military Police, officers were doing routine patrolling at the address. As they got out of the car for a foot inspection, they were shot at and retaliated.
16/07/2022 – An intense shooting between criminals and Military Police (PM) ended with one dead and two injured, including a police officer, in Areal neighborhood. According to the police, officers were doing routine patrolling at the address. As soon as they arrived at the scene, they were met with gunfire and retaliated.
21/07/2022 – The Military Police captured a man who was on the run from justice and was in Bracuí’s little houses. The agents went to the place to investigate complaints sent by the Angra Hotline service about drug trafficking activities.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking were also registered this month.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba and Morro da Glória.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
