JLTV For Security in Urban Environments
Easy to transport and extensively tested in combat, the vehicles known as the JLTV (acronym for Joint Light Tactical Vehicle), expands the fleet of armored vehicles and especially meets the demand for use in urban environments and are widely used by the US Army and Marines. Light armored vehicles on wheels are manufactured by the American company Oshkosh Defense and were purchased in October 2020 in a contract signed with the United States government.
Four Available
The first batch, with four units, disembarked in February at the port of Rio de Janeiro, and another eight vehicles should arrive in the coming years. Unlike their predecessors, the new SUVs were designed to take improvised explosives and mines into account and are equipped with a system that allows them to withstand explosions on the underside of the chassis. Lightweight and compact in design, they are easily transported by military aircraft as well as ships and over land.
In addition to Brazil, countries such as Belgium, Lithuania, North Macedonia and Montenegro also placed orders for armored vehicles.
