The Chamber of Deputies approved on Wednesday (03/08) a project that ends the possibility of temporary release of prisoners and that also changes rules about electronic anklet. Now, the text needs to be voted by the Senate.
The text approved changes the Penal Execution Law to repeal articles that authorize the temporary release of prisoners serving their sentences in a semi-open regime. In addition, it allows the judge to determine the use of an electronic ankle bracelet by the prisoner. The text includes this monitoring among the special conditions for granting an open regime and establishes that this type of inspection may be imposed on anyone who obtains parole.
