18/08/2026 – On Tuesday (18), Military Police officers engaged in a firefight with armed suspects during an anti-drug operation in the Nova Holanda community. Following the shootout, police swept the area and seized an IWI ARAD M4 5.56 caliber assault rifle, ammunition, nearly 5 kg of narcotics (marijuana and cocaine), and radio transmitters. A fleeing suspect carrying a radio transmitter was intercepted, treated at a local medical center, and subsequently arrested at the 123rd Police District on drug charges.

18/08/2026 – On Tuesday (18), a 42-year-old man fled the Public Hospital of Macaé after being recognized as the perpetrator of a sexual assault against a 15-year-old girl. The suspect had initially been transported to the hospital by paramedics after being beaten by a mob in the Sol e Mar neighborhood, but he was left without police custody because no witnesses at the scene provided a reason for the assault. Later that evening, the victim reported to police that the man had sexually abused her under the false pretense of a job interview at a local grocery store in the Novo Horizonte neighborhood, subsequently identifying him via photograph at the hospital. By the time officers mobilized to place him under arrest, the suspect had escaped the facility in a silver Volkswagen Gol, prompting an ongoing police manhunt across the region.
18-19/08/2026 – Between Tuesday (18), and Wednesday (19), Federal Police captured three wanted fugitives following intelligence-led operations across the city. In Mirante da Lagoa, officers arrested a 27-year-old man serving a final sentence for drug trafficking related to a 2020 shootout where he was caught holding an assault rifle. Meanwhile, in the Ajuda de Cima neighborhood, agents apprehended a 63-year-old man convicted of statutory rape alongside a 52-year-old man wanted for qualified homicide in Espírito Santo. All three men were processed at the federal precinct and transferred to the state prison system.
19/08/2026 – On Wednesday (19), the Civil Police launched a large-scale operation targeting the Amigos dos Amigos (ADA) criminal organization in the Nova Holanda community. Coordinated by the 123rd Police District alongside elite forces from the Special Resources Coordination (CORE), agents entered the area around 6:00 to execute arrest, search, and seizure warrants resulting from months of intelligence tracking. Heavy gunfire was reported as police advanced into the neighborhood to disrupt the faction’s leadership and financial operations.
