01/01/2024 – Man has been caught red-handed for burglary in a store in the Centre of Macaé. Indeed, during a routine patrol, police officers have received a call that a man was robbing a store. Based on the suspect´s description, the cops began the search. They found the suspect trying to escape to another district of the city. As the cops delivered the man at the precinct, it has been found that he is responding several active warrants for burglary and threatening.

11/01/2024 – A fugitive has been arrested for a crime attempt on his ex-wife in the Centre of Macaé. The man had an active warrant since 2022 for having attempted to kill his ex-wife with a poisoned soup. He was immediately placed in detention.
14/01/2024 – A joint operation with Highway police and City Hall Urban Mobility Department permitted the seizure of a cloned car and weapons on highway BR-106 in Cabiúnas, East Macaé. Indeed, this partnership between the 2 public entities began in October 2023 to monitor and prevent accidents and also to exchange information to better public security on the roads.
17/01/2024 – Five fugitives were arrested in Malvinas and Nova Holanda, Centre of Macaé. A joint police operation permitted the reuptake of 5 bandits who were beneficiated from the holiday permission and did not return to their jail.
22/01/2024 – A shootout between a police patrol and 2 suspects ended with one dead and one wounded in Parque União, East Macaé. As the officers were on a routine patrol, they decided to stop a motorcycle with its plate hidden. As police were approaching the suspects, they started the shootout. The officers retrieved the favor and wounded the bandits. They both were rescued but one died.
24/01/2024 – A bandit was arrested after a pursuit in Cajueiros, Centre of Angra. During a routine patrol, the police noticed a man with a suspect attitude carrying a plastic bag and chased him. When searching the suspect, the officers discovered drugs and a cell phone. The suspect had long criminal record including drug trafficking, robbery, and homicide. He was placed in custody.
30/01/2024 – A fugitive was arrested in a joint operation in Alto dos Cajueiros, South Macaé. He was wanted for a homicide attempt and was placed in custody.
01/02/2024 – A joint operation between Civil and Militar Police dismantled an organized gang in Aeroporto, East Macaé. The police caught red-handed a suspect in his residence with a pistol, ammunition, cell phone, and an important quantity of drugs. The man was placed in custody.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda de Baixo, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Fronteira, Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Parque Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be careful when walking downtown, avoid exposing valuables.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
