Sinarm
The government wants to concentrate all registrations of weapons held by the population at Sinarm – including the arsenal of hunters, shooters, and collectors (CACs), which today is controlled and registered by the Army. At the end of the period, those who do not register may have their weapons seized and be liable for the crimes of carrying and illegally possessing a firearm, provided for in the 2003 Disarmament Statute.
The registration must contain the identification of the weapon and the owner – including the name, CFP or CNPJ, address of residence and collection. Even during the transition of government, the current Minister Flávio Dino had already pointed out the need for a more effective control of civilian weapons in the country.
Lack of Control by the Army
Entities point out that the Army, responsible until now for controlling the CACs, does not have enough operational staff to supervise and guarantee the integrity of the records. Despite the centralization of gun registration, registration will not replace proof of requirements for obtaining possession or carrying.
