The Military Police released, Wednesday morning (01/01), a balance of the main occurrences recorded during New Year’s Eve in Copacabana. Seven people were detained (including three teenagers). The teams seized 234 bladed weapons and two gel weapons at the search points throughout the neighborhood. Seventeen cell phones were recovered. A child who was missing was found with the help of facial recognition and sent to the Guardianship Council.

26/12/2024 – A video that circulates, and which gained repercussion this Thursday (26/12), on social media shows sympathizers of the criminal faction Red Command (CV), driving motorcycles inside Morro dos Macacos, in Vila Isabel, North Zone. As they travel through the alleys, they shout words of celebration after they have taken control of the region. The place, which houses about 5,000 people and is located in the upper part of Vila Isabel, was commanded by the Third Pure Command (TCP).
28/12/2024 – A confrontation between fleeing criminals and police officers from the 4th BPM (São Cristóvão), on Saturday night (28/12), ended with an agent shot on Avenida Brasil, near São Cristóvão, North Zone. According to the corporation, three bandits got out of the car shooting at the police. The vehicle they were in caught fire during the shootout. The criminals fled abandoning a rifle.
28/12/2024 – The stabbed corpse of an 81-year-old woman was discovered by the Fire Department on Saturday night (28/12), at her home, on Januário Barbosa Street, in Taquara, West Zone. According to witnesses, the elderly woman’s body had been in the house for at least four days. The victim’s daughter was arrested. According to the Police, she would have suffered a psychotic break, as she was taking care of her mother, diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
28/12/2024 – A 32-year-old woman and a 34-year-old app driver were shot on Saturday night (28/12), when the driver mistakenly entered the Fontela community, in Vargem Pequena, West Zone. The woman died.
29/12/2024 – A woman was hit in the head by shrapnel from a stray bullet, while sunbathing by the pool of the Vila do Pan Condominium, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone, on Sunday afternoon (29/12). In a statement, the Military Police reported that they did not carry out any operation in the region.
29/12/2024 – Several men were involved in a generalized fight on the sands of Ipanema Beach, in the South Zone of Rio, on Sunday (29/12). The confusion had at least ten people. Not knowing the reason for the fight, the bathers moved away from the scene of the confusion and started filming. The PM reported that they were not activated.
30/12/2024 – Nine people were arrested, and five tons of drugs were seized in a Civil Police operation carried out on Monday (30/12) in the slums of Fallet, Fogueteiro, and Prazeres, in the Santa Teresa neighborhood, Central Region. The action is part of Operation Tourniquet and aimed at dismantling a drug distribution scheme at parties in the South Zone of the city. Investigations indicated that the drugs were stored at a distribution point.
31/12/2024 – A 35-year-old man was arrested by agents of Centro Presente, on Tuesday morning (31/12), on Rua do Ouvidor, in Centro, after graffiti on a statue with Nazi symbols. According to the State Secretariat of Government, the man reacted aggressively to the approach, offending the agents. With the criminal, two knives and a permanent pen were seized.
31/12/2024 – A 61-year-old woman was shot dead on Tuesday morning (31/12) on Alzira Valderato Street, in Morro do São João, in the Sampaio neighborhood, North Zone. In protest, people hijacked a bus on line 247 (Camarista Méier x Passeio) to interrupt traffic on Av. Marechal Rondon.
01/01/2025 – A 25-year-old motorcycle courier was shot dead while delivering drinks in the Quintino neighborhood, North Zone, on Wednesday (01/01). According to witnesses, he was shot by traffickers from Serrinha, in Madureira. On social media, reports point out that criminals accused him of being a police informant.
01/01/2025 – Residents of Morro do São Carlos, in Estácio, Central Region of Rio, woke up on Wednesday (01/01) to an intense confrontation between rival factions on Rua São Carlos. Videos circulating on social networks show armed men entering one of the main access streets to the community.
01/01/2025 – A man and his daughter were victims of a stray bullet during New Year’s Eve on Copacabana Beach, South Zone, on Wednesday (01/01). In a video published on social media, he said that the shot hit his thigh, and the projectile ricocheted off the cell phone, hitting the young woman’s arm.
01/01/2025 – An Italian tourist was injured during a robbery, on Wednesday (01/01), at Flamengo Beach, South Zone. Bandits tried to take the foreigner’s cell phone when he disembarked from a car. The victim was taken to the hospital.
