The Military Police put together a plan to reinforce security and avoid conflicts between members of the organized supporters of Fluminense and Boca Juniors, who competed in the Libertadores final on Saturday (04/11), at Maracanã. The policing scheme was carried out with 2,240 agents around the stadium and support from the National Force. But not even that was able to prevent confusion. Before the game, at the Central do Brasil station, groups of Fluminense fans threw glasses of drinks at people wearing Boca Juniors shirts. Once at the entrance to Maracanã, a group of Argentine fans who allegedly had irregular tickets tried to force entry into the blockades set up by the police. In both situations there were no injuries or arrests. Five people were arrested for presenting false Conmebol credentials to try to enter the stadium. In Copacabana, South Zone, a Boca Juniors fan was arrested after calling a student a “monkey” and imitating the animal to the 17-year-old girl.

03/11/2023 – The Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC) is investigating the death of Lindonmar Riva, 53 years old, at a gas station on Estrada do Mato Alto, in Campo Grande, West Zone. According to witnesses, the crime was motivated by a fight over a teddy bear machine at the gas station. The criminal would have tried to get the toys and was unable to do so, while Lindonmar would have already taken several different animals.
03/11/2023 – Two men were shot inside a car on Estrada dos Bandeirantes, in Curicica, West Zone. The Military Police confirmed that the two men were shot in the foot and shoulder. One of them died and the other remains hospitalized. Witnesses stated that those shot were militiamen, and that the shooters were in another vehicle.
04/11/2023 – Thieves broke into the Church of São Francisco de Paula, in downtown Rio and took a silver monstrance with gold-plated details. Only the base was left behind. The sacred piece is used to solemnly expose the host. The suspicion is that the theft was carried out by drug users in the region. The thieves tried to take two other pieces, which ended up being left behind in the parking lot and were recovered.
06/11/2023 – Militiamen and drug traffickers had a shooting in the Muzema region, West Zone. The Military Police were called to the incident. When the police arrived, the criminals fled. The community was one of those that received the Integrated City project, in January last year. The initiative aimed to retake territory from communities dominated by militia and drug trafficking. According to the Military Police, the location was the scene of a confrontation between rival criminal groups. So far, there are no reports of injuries in the action.
07/11/2023 – Investigations by the Portuguese Judicial Police with the support of the Federal Police, discovered that employees of the Portuguese Consulate in Rio charged up to 300 euros, around R$1,500, to jump the queue and obtain Portuguese citizenship documents. Police officers stationed at the Rio de Janeiro International Cooperation Center (NCI/INTERPOL/PF) carried out five search and seizure warrant in Rio de Janeiro. The agents are investigating whether the scheme had even been used by traffickers from the First Capital Command (PCC) to travel to the European country. Intelligence data from Portugal indicate that the European country currently has around a thousand members of the São Paulo faction.
08/11/2023 – Civil Police officers arrested one of the leaders of the Curicica, Dois Irmãos and Colônia militia, in Jacarepaguá, West Zone. Osmar Silva de Souza had taken over from “Playboy da Curicica”, who was killed in June, during an operation in Complexo da Maré, North Zone. According to the police, he was responsible for an attack on civil police teams. He was arrested at home in the Sulacap neighborhood. With him, officers find weapons, ammunition, tactical use material, militia notes, cell phones.
08/11/2023 – A 52-year-old woman died after an attempted robbery in Irajá, North Zone. Her husband said that they were approached by criminals on Rua Guiraréia. Ana Paula ended up shot and was taken to hospital but did not survive. The Capital Homicide Police were called to investigate the crime.
08/11/2023 – The Military Police seized weapons and ammunition in Guaratiba, West Zone, from a man who admitted to being a supplier to militia members and drug traffickers. Officers found the material in a house while investigating a complaint about an alleged militia ammunition factory. There they found four rifles, a 12-gauge shotgun, a BB gun, 8 pistols and a revolver. In addition to the weapons, a large quantity of ammunition, gunpowder boxes, gas cylinders, ammunition reloading machinery and various weapons accessories were found inside the enclosure.
08/11/2023 – A civil police officer died after reacting to a robbery and killing a criminal on Avenida Lúcio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone. He was leaving a restaurant when he was captured by two criminals. Wellington was being investigated for possible involvement with the militia. The Homicide Police are investigating the crime.
09/11/2023 – Mass robberies were recorded at the exit of the Mexican group RBD’s concert in Engenhão, North Zone. According to witnesses, at least 2 mass robberies occurred when the public was lefting the stadium towards the Engenho de Dentro train station, shortly before midnight.
