16/02/2024 – A fugitive was arrested on a stolen electric bike in Lagoa, South RJ. According to the police, the man was a member of a high-middle-class gang of international drug trafficking. He escaped in 2021 from the State prison in Bangu, West RJ, where he was jailed since 2009. The man was taken to the precinct where he was charged with fencing and fugitive recapture.

16/02/2024 – Amid a gang war, Comando Vermelho (CV) troops tried to invade their neighbor rival Terceiro Comando Puro (TCP) and met in the middle in Costa Barros, North RJ. Besides the intense shootout, one of the clashes involved the arson of a bus. According to videos recorded by residents of the district, various armed men tactically maneuvered the streets of the district. According to the police, despite the violent shootout, there is no record of fatalities. The Corporation intensified its presence in the area.
17/02/2024 – Police officers of the 9th Battalion of Militar Police (BPM) were involved in an intense shootout with a platoon of the Police Special Forces of RJ (BOPE) in Rocha Miranda, North RJ. Indeed, according to the Corporation, officers of the 9BPM are from the intelligence platoon and went to the slum for an operation. As they were entering the slum pursuing a group of runaway suspects, they were shot from behind by the BOPE. As the shootout occurred during the night, none of the sides could clearly identify their targets. Nobody was hurt during this episode.
17/02/2024 – Police arrested 14 criminals in different points of Costa Barros, North RJ. The police operation was in consequence of the events of 16/02/2024 in the same district of the Capital. This time the police arrested 3 groups with their equipment, such as weapons, ammunition, and drugs. One of the bandits is a leader of the traffic in São Conçalo. One of the arrested bandits was wounded and has been rescued at the hospital.
17/02/2024 – A man died during an assault attempt on Linha Vermelha in Ilha do Fundão, North RJ. According to the police, various bandits with rifles and pistols surrendered various vehicles on the interchange between Linha Vermelha and Linha Amarela. During the assault, one of the assaulted cars was of an off-duty cop who reacted. During the shootout, a 22yo civilian was wounded in the belly. He was taken to the ER but trespassed at the hospital.
19/02/2024 – A commando of the Comando Vermelho (CV) invaded a fest in Bangu, west RJ, and killed the 2 DJs. According to the press, the bandits arrived at the final of the weekly fest of the slum dominated by the gang Terceiro Comando Puro (TCP) and shot at the crowd. They killed the 2 DJs and wounded a singer and a woman. The commando fled just after the shootout. According to police intelligence, the leader of the CV in the State of RJ ordered the shootout.
20/02/2024 – Two men were caught red-handed stealing 12 meters of copper cables in Laranjeiras, South RJ. Indeed, the men were denounced by a resident whose house wall was being used by the bandits to commit the larceny. The officers caught them with 12 meters of copper cables, cut from the local net of energy. Both have been placed in custody. Both already have records for theft and robbery, and one of them was released from jail only a few days ago.
21/02/2024 – One suspect died and 2 wounded during a police operation in Vila Kennedy, West RJ. According to the Corporation, the operation was to repress organized crime in the region and respond to the shootout that occurred in Catiri on 19/02/2024. During the operation, one bandit died and 2 were wounded, a 4th was arrested. In all, the police seized pistols, hand grenades, walkie-talkies, and drugs. The police also destroyed barricades.
