13/10/2023 – A trio from São Paulo who traveled to Rio exclusively to rob luxury apartments was arrested by civil police officers in downtown Rio. They are accused of stealing from residences in the South Zone of the city. They stole jewelry, cell phones, money, and electronic equipment. The police did not estimated values, but there were at least two victims in two apartments: one in Ipanema and the other in Copacabana. They were arrested in a hotel room where belongings of one of the victims were found. According to the police, the prisoners are part of a criminal organization, specialized in home robberies that used well-dressed men to deceive doormen.

14/10/2023 – A 20-year-old Frenchman was arrested in Copacabana, South Zone, for stealing from a souvenir shop in the neighborhood. A team of military police officers from Operation Copacabana Presente was called by the establishment’s saleswoman, reporting that a young man had entered with an attitude that she considered suspicious. With him, the police found jewelry valued at R$23,000.
15/10/2023 – A Russian tourist was stabbed during a robbery, on Avenida Chile, in downtown Rio. The man was walking through the area accompanied by a Ukrainian tourist when the couple was approached by a woman with a knife. The Military Police reported that officers arrested the woman involved in the robbery, who was recognized by the victims.
16/10/2023 – An intense shooting, in Morro do Jordão, in the Taquara neighborhood, West Zone, scared residents. The Military Police confirmed that rival criminal groups clashed in the upper part of the community’s forested area. There were no reports of injuries. According to reports, the confrontation occurred around 1:45. Morro do Jordão is the target of dispute between militiamen and drug traffickers, who seek to control the region, as well as other parts of the city.
16/10/2023 – The Military Police began the 5th day of operations in Maré, North Zone, on Monday (16/10). Military Police went to the part of the complex dominated by the Third Pure Command (TCP), the 2nd largest criminal trafficking faction in Rio. According to the Military Police (PM), one criminal was arrested, and another was killed in the shooting. The PM stated that, at the entrance to the community, officers in an armored vehicle were met with gunfire by armed men, and there was a confrontation.
16/10/2023 – Shootings scared residents of Catumbi, in downtown Rio. The police were warned that Fallet criminals were trying to invade São Carlos, in broad daylight. Rival groups of criminals were fighting over territories at 15:30. The Military Police went to the location using armored vehicles.
16/10/2023 – Federal Highway Police (PRF) agents found a shipment of 60 kilos of cocaine hidden in a truck. The incident took place on BR-116, in Vigário Geral, downtown Rio. The shipment was hidden in the vehicle’s lining. The driver’s conduct was what caught the attention of the agents, he was overtaking on the shoulder.
17/10/2023 – The Military Police set up a siege on Avenida das Américas, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone, to stop a vehicle considered suspicious. According to the police, after the tactical siege carried out by the police, the driver of the vehicle refused to obey the agents’ order to stop. An agent then shot three times in the direction of the car’s tires to try to stop it. After the chase, the car was intercepted on the road towards Barra da Tijuca. During the search of the vehicle nothing was found.
17/10/2023 – An elderly woman was shot dead in the Pechincha neighborhood, in Jacarepaguá, in the West Zone. The security circuit of the condominium where the 65-year-old victim lived, on Rua Mirataia, recorded the moment she was shot.
18/10/2023 – The Federal Police arrested a 70-year-old Hungarian man, who was carrying approximately 3 kilos of cocaine hidden in his suitcase, at Rio de Janeiro International Airport. The drug was spread across the lining of pants and other items of clothing. The elderly man intended to embark for Lisbon, in Portugal. The flight had a final connection to Paris, France.
19/10/2023 – A digital influencer and Uber driver was arrested for impersonating a military police officer in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense. The 38-year-old man produces videos on social media where he introduces himself as “Uber Presente”, an agent who is working as an app driver. He doesn’t belong to the corporation. Military personnel were on patrol on Avenida Brigadeiro Lima e Silva when they were called by a man who claimed to have been threatened by “Uber Presente”. The agents found the influencer and noticed that he was dressed as a military police officer. He also carried replica rifles and pistols, a bulletproof vest, a radio, and other materials.
20/10/2023 – Military Police officers carried out an operation in Cidade de Deus, West Zone. The action, according to the corporation, aimed to curb criminal practices, unblock roads by removing barricades, as well as repress vehicle theft practices in the community access. There were no arrests or seizures. The operation took place the day after the recovery of eight machine guns diverted from the São Paulo Army in that region.
