21/01/2024 – A Militia leader was executed in a beach bar in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, West RJ. The victim known as “Sérgio Bomba” was pointed to be the militia leader of Sepetiba and was jailed in 2017. Nobody was arrested. According to the first elements of the investigation, another militiaman, aka “Pipito” is suspected of being in the backstages of this crime as he is pointed willing to assume the succession of “Zinho”, jailed since Christmas 2023.

21/01/2024 – Two men were stabbed during pre-carnival blocks in the Centre of RJ. Witnesses of the attack told the police a group of people, simulated a fight and then proceeded to the “arrastão”. In another pointed scenario, tourists danced with locals who took the opportunity to rob the tourists’ belongings. The police arrested 8 bandits and retrieved cell phones, watches, and jewelry.
21/01/2024 – The first pre-carnival street blocks weekend had more than a thousand illegal products seized, and 493 vehicles fined. The police centered their security operation in the big block of the Centre of RJ and concerned more than 3,000 officers (half for public security and the other half for transit control). The main seizures concerned illegal sales of alcohol, cookers, gas bottles, and sound boxes. The police also seized 70 knives and razor blades.
23/01/2024 – Public Order agents led an operation to seek and seize illegal taxi races in the International Airport. During the operation, the agents caught red-handed 2 taxi drivers for not having activated their taximeter. They have seen their vehicle detained and their license seized. In all, 21 fines were delivered.
23/01/2024 – Cars were robbed during a mass robbery on Avenida Brasil, in Deodoro, North RJ. According to the press, a video has been shared on social media, and there can be seen people running on the highway amid completely stopped vehicles. According to the police, officers of the Highway Battalion went to the spot, but the bandits had already run away. Nobody was arrested.
23/01/2024 – Two bandits died and 2 were wounded during a shootout with the police in Vicente de Carvalho, North RJ. The shootout began when the police entered the slum and were received with shots. One of the bandits died from his hand grenade while he was throwing it at the officers. During this operation, the police found a large quantity of drugs, walkie-talkies, and weapons. In another slum of the district, another bandit was wounded and owned a gun, a hand grenade, and a walkie-talkie.
24/01/2024 – Two most wanted militia leaders were arrested in Curicica, West RJ, after an intense shootout with the police. The police went to check the information when they met with the bandits. The bodyguards started the shootout to protect the retreat of their bosses. The police shot back and killed the two guards. They then arrested the leaders and placed them directly in jail as both were actively wanted by the cops.
