01/07/2022 – A young man, aged 20, was brutally attacked by a security guard at a nightclub in the early hours of Saturday (01/07) on Avenida Vicente de Carvalho, in Boqueirão. The student said he was beaten up at the Moby Dick nightclub after trying to help a friend who was being thrown out by the neck. His nose was swelling, the forehead was fractured, besides several bruises on his face.

03/07/2022 – An armed criminal robbed the Drogasil pharmacy on Avenida Bernardino de Campos, in Campo Grande. The criminal arrived on a motorcycle with a partner and forced the glass door until he broke the lock. During the action, he threatened employees and stole cash. The criminal fled on a motorcycle with a partner who was waiting for him.
06/07/2022 – A 55-year-old retired military police officer was shot dead by two criminals in the Aparecida neighborhood. The police officer had just left a bank branch on Avenida Pedro Lessa when he was approached by the bandits. The victim was approached by criminals as he got on his motorcycle. He tried to react but was hit. The criminals fled.
14/07/2022 – The body of a 66-year-old man was found inside Canal 1, on Avenida Senador Pinheiro Machado, Vila Mathias. The case is being investigated by the Civil Police. According to the State Secretariat for Public Security (SSP), military police were called to attend to an occurrence. Arriving at the reported location, the team spotted the corpse.
15/07/2022 – A 43-year-old man was shot and attacked during a robbery on Avenida Rangel Pestana, in Vila Matias. According to the victim, the criminals took advantage of the moment when he stopped the car at a red light and two, armed men, entered the vehicle and announced the crime. The victim was held hostage inside his own car and then taken to Morro do Jabaquara by two criminals around 17h30.
23/07/2023 – On Sunday (23/07), a 25-year-old was the victim of an attempted rape during an app race in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. The passenger reported to the Civil Police that the driver from 99-Taxis put his penis out and threatened to use force to have sexual intercourse. The passenger managed to escape before any aggression. The victim had called an app car in the city center, after leaving a nightclub. He was destined for the neighborhood of Gonzaga but, halfway through the journey, the driver informed her that she would change her route to avoid the tunnel, since the car’s headlights were burnt out.
24/07/2023 – On Monday (24/07), one man was arrested while burglarizing a commercial establishment in the center of Santos. The crime took place in Rua Itororó, on the corner of Avenida João Pessoa, around 07H00.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponto da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo and others.
- The waterfront has many incidents of opportunistic thefts, never display wealth and avoid walks there during the night.
- Residences in the of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves. Make sure your building is well protected.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, mobile phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and that negotiation may be lengthy.
