SANTOS SECURITY INCIDENTS – SEPTEMBER MONTHLY BULLETIN

04/09/2024 – Agents of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) of Santos arrested, on the morning of Wednesday (4), a 51-year-old man wanted for a crime of rape of a vulnerable person committed in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The fugitive was located on Avenida Presidente Wilson, in the Pompeia neighborhood, after a complaint of disorder.

04/09/2024 – A 37-year-old truck driver was kidnapped and robbed by two men, aged 25 and 27, on the morning of Wednesday (4) in Santos. A load of eight tons of wheat grains, valued at about R$ 28,000, was taken. According to the police report, the crime happened around 6:00, when the victim was traveling with the truck loaded with wheat grains along Avenida Perimetral, in Santos, next to the railway line. Part of the gang was arrested.

05/09/2024 – A greenhouse used for planting marijuana was found, on Thursday (5), in a house located in the Boqueirão neighborhood, in Santos. Complaints led the civil police officers of the 1st General Investigations Precinct (DIG) to discover the greenhouse. A 40-year-old man was arrested, suspected of building an air-conditioned room to grow 166 shrubs on the property.

09/09/2024 – A woman suspected of committing a series of bicycle thefts in Santos was arrested after committing the crime again on Monday afternoon (9), this time in a department store on Euclides da Cunha Street, in the Gonzaga neighborhood.

12/09/2024 – A man was arrested for stealing a bicycle from a woman on Thursday at noon on Channel 3, which is located on Avenida Washington Luis, in the Boqueirão neighborhood. To try to escape the revolt of the people and the police, the suspect jumped into the channel.

13/09/2024 – Military police officers (PM) were ambushed by criminals in the Northwest Zone of Santos in the early hours of Friday (13). According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), they were patrolling the Rádio Clube neighborhood when they were shot at by at least eight criminals. At the scene, a cell phone and weapon were seized. Still, according to the corporation, no one was injured. The bandits fled.

18/09/2024 – A 20-year-old man stole a cell phone on Rua Evaristo da Veiga, in the Campo Grande neighborhood, on Wednesday night (18). After the investigations, the Military Police found the man in São Vicente with the stolen cell phone. When approached, the suspect himself confessed to the crime. He was arrested.

19/09/2024 – The Federal Police (PF) launched, on Thursday (19), in Santos, an operation to destroy a ton of drugs seized in the Port. The PF reported that it mobilized several teams to escort the seized drugs to the place where they would be incinerated. Still according to the PF, in 2024, more than two tons of cocaine were seized at the Port of Santos. The port is Brazil’s main hub of drug imports. Cargo transported by ships is constantly used to hide illegal substances and send them to Africa and Europe. The actions are mostly perpetrated by the First Capital Command (PCC) and are one of the main risks for companies using the port.

21/09/2024 – A man was filmed punching and breaking the window of a car parked on Rua Doutor Gaspar Ricardo, in the Marapé neighborhood, in the early hours of Saturday (21). According to the victim, the owner of the vehicle, the attack may have occurred during a “tantrum” by the suspect.

24/09/2024 – A storage point for weapons and drugs was discovered in an operation by the Civil Police, on Tuesday (24), in a residence on Caminho São Sebastião, in the Rádio Clube neighborhood. Cocaine, crack rocks, hashish, marijuana, and skunk were found. Various types of weapons were also seized with their ammunition in large quantities. No one was arrested.
