The state government of São Paulo published last Tuesday (27/09), a public notice to hire 1.000 electronic anklets to be used by aggressors of women who comply with protective measures granted by the Justice.
The device, capable of tracking the approach of the aggressor through a geolocation system, will also issue an alert to the Military Police in cases of violation. One of the penalties provided for aggressors who disrespect the judicial measure or try to remove the device is preventive detention.
For Fernando José da Costa, Secretary of Justice and Citizenship, the measure will allow women “to live without the threat of the return of their tormentors”.
