Security camera totems were stolen three times in May on Rua 17 de Janeiro, near Avenida Hebe Camargo, in Paraíso do Morumbi, South Zone. The equipment, provided by CoSecurity and integrated into the Smart Sampa and Muralha Paulista surveillance programs, is used by local condominiums. Investigations are underway at the 89th Police District (Jardim Taboão).

22/05/2025 – On Thursday (22/05), Corinthians president Augusto Melo was indicted for criminal association, theft, and money laundering in connection with a sponsorship deal with the betting company ‘Vai de Bet’. Investigators allege that R$1.4 million in commissions was diverted through shell companies to UJ Football Talent, reportedly linked to Danilo Lima de Oliveira, known as “Tripa,” a PCC operator in football. Melo is accused of orchestrating the scheme with club officials but denies wrongdoing.
24/05/2025 – On Saturday (24/05), in Moema, an upscale neighborhood in the South Zone, four young men, including a minor, broke into two apartments using a cloned garage remote. Spotted, they fled by car, driving against traffic, over sidewalks, and crashing into multiple vehicles. The chase lasted for about seven to eight blocks. An armed congressman, a retired police commissioner, fired at the suspects, injuring one. All four were arrested with the stolen items still in the vehicle.
24/05/2025 – On Saturday (24/05), a 24-year-old man was arrested at Ibirapuera Park, South Zone, after making racist slurs and physically assaulting one of three men during a football game. According to the Public Security Secretariat, one victim reported that the suspect verbally abused the group and later attacked one of them following an argument. Park security detained the suspect until military police arrived.
24/05/2025 – On Saturday (24/05), a 38-year-old military police officer was arrested after fatally shooting his girlfriend in the head at his home in the district of Jaçanã, North Zone. According to the officer, the shooting was accidental and occurred while he was handling his firearm.
25/05/2025 – On Sunday (25/05), an altercation occurred in the playground of Clube Athletico Paulistano, in the upscale Jardins neighborhood, South Zone, between a 26-year-old nanny and a 46-year-old club member. According to the Domestics Federation, the nanny intervened when a boy under her care was provoked by another child who refused to return a ball. After asking for the toy back, the child reportedly ran to his father, claiming he had been assaulted. The father returned and began filming the workers with his phone. When the nanny tried to knock the device from his hand, the man allegedly punched her in the mouth.
26/05/2025 – On Monday (26/05), around 100 residents of the Areião community, in the Jaguaré neighborhood, West Zone, blocked Marginal Pinheiros between the Jaguaré Bridge and the Cebolão to protest an eviction operation. Burning barricades were set up on the roadway and even on train tracks. Train circulation was temporarily halted and resumed around 07:30. Due to the chaos, the municipal driving restriction was temporarily lifted for vehicles using the Pinheiros and Tietê expressways.
26/05/2025 – On Monday (26/05), a 65-year-old truck driver was kidnapped in the Tatuapé neighborhood, East Zone, and later released in São Vicente, on the coast. According to the victim, he was held at gunpoint, blindfolded, and kept inside his truck before being set free. That same day, a 48-year-old man was arrested on the Anchieta Highway in São Bernardo do Campo while driving the stolen vehicle. It remains unclear whether he participated in the abduction.
27/05/2025 – On Tuesday (27/05), a municipal guard was shot during an attempted robbery in São Mateus, East Zone. She was hit in the abdomen and rushed to the hospital in Itaquera. The suspects fled and abandoned the vehicle used in the crime nearby.
28/05/2025 – Singer Matheus Aleixo, from the country music duo Matheus & Kauan, had his phone stolen on Wednesday (28/05) while driving along Marginal Pinheiros on his way to an event celebrating 15 years of his career. According to Matheus, the car window was slightly open when a thief reached in and grabbed his phone before fleeing. He reported on Friday (30/05) that over R$700,000 was stolen from his bank account. Despite immediately blocking the device, the suspects accessed his apps and made Pix transfers. Matheus also stated that his main Instagram account was hacked.
28/05/2025 – On Wednesday (28/05), a police sniffer dog discovered a secret passage leading to a hidden drug stash inside an electronic vault with a bed, in Rio Pequeno, West Zone. The Tactical Force and the 5th Shock Battalion K-9 unit were patrolling when the dog signaled suspicion. Inside a vacant house, officers found 156 kg of drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, crack, LSD, ecstasy, and MDMA.
29/05/2025 – On Wednesday (29/05), around 5:20, a group of about 20 armed assailants invaded a residential building in Vila Sônia, West Zone. According to the Civil Police, the suspects cut the electric fence, entered through the garage, and held residents hostage while looting at least three apartments. The robbers, masked and carrying handguns and long weapons, waited in the elevator area to ambush residents.
