The city of São Paulo recorded an increase in the number of pedestrian deaths in the first half of 2023. There were 149 pedestrian deaths in the São Paulo capital over the first half of 2023, against 143 in the same period last year. The increase is 4%, according to data from Infosiga, the state government’s database, and released this Tuesday (08/08). The data indicate an increase for the second consecutive year, after the 116 victims in the first six months of 2021 – when there was a limitation in social interaction due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

08/08/2023 – A man was arrested after stabbing two passengers at the Cidade Universitária station on line 9-Esmeralda, in the Pinheiros neighborhood, West Zone. According to ViaMobilidade, the concessionaire responsible for the line, a man and a woman were stabbed with a knife inside a train. Service and security agents at the station were able to detain the attacker inside the train.
08/08/2023 – A man accused of being the biggest dealer of stolen cell phones in São Paulo was arrested in downtown São Paulo by the Civil Police. With him, 312 devices were seized, of which 64 were reported as stolen or stolen in police reports.
09/08/2023 – Bandits pretended to be customers to rob a bank branch in Iguatemi, in the East Zone. They surrendered employees and customers and fled taking the money from the service boxes and two guns from the guards.
09/08/2023 – Two criminals were arrested after robbing a father and daughter leaving a condominium on Rua Roma, in Lapa, West Zone. Monitoring cameras show the moment when the duo approaches the vehicle and announces the robbery threatening the two with a gun. In a few seconds, the victims are forced to get out of the car and hand over their belongings. According to the Military Police, criminals were located with the vehicle and arrested after a pursuit.
09/08/2023 – A 34-year-old engineer was shot dead after being robbed in the Cidade Líder region, East Zone. Security cameras in the region recorded the moment he travelled along Avenida Itaquera on his motorcycle. Seconds later, the criminals, on a second motorcycle, approach and announce the robbery. Upon noticing the approach, the engineer gets out of his vehicle, raises his hands, and walks away from the motorcycle. But he is still shot.
10/08/2023 – Eight people were arrested, and a minor was apprehended for being part of two gangs that carried out robberies in the Glicério region, in downtown São Paulo. The arrests took place in a building in the Liberdade neighborhood, identified by officers as the crime office of the two gangs. At the scene, 13 stolen cell phones, three card machines, drugs and money were also seized.
11/08/2023 – A man was arrested, and a teenager apprehended after carrying out a mass robbery in the south zone of São Paulo. Police went to the scene after receiving reports. The duo was recognized by robbery victims. Another pair, who committed the same crime in the same place, managed to escape.
11/08/2023 – A man who robbed high-end apartments in São Paulo was arrested. Several objects belonging to the victims were seized from him. The woman, who according to the police, acted with him, is being sought. According to the police, he gained access to the buildings by renting apartments on a vacation rental app.
