Stores in downtown São Paulo registered a theft or robbery every 13 hours between the months of February and April. According to the Secretariat of Public Security of São Paulo, there were a total of 165 thefts and robberies of businesses in the region in the period.

09/06/2023 – A criminal managed to disarm the alarm and steal a car in Parque São Lucas, East Zone. Security cameras recorded the crime, in the images it is possible to see the criminal approaching the vehicle. Already very close to the car, he activates a device that unlocks all the locks. After that, he stayed a while watching the movement in the street and when there was no one he got in the car and fled.
09/06/2023 – A military police officer (PM) attacked a merchant in the Santa Ifigênia commercial center, downtown São Paulo. Footage from the gallery’s security cameras caught the moment the victim was thrown to the ground by the police officer. The discussion between the PM and the shopkeeper began at the counter of the establishment. The officer throws a kind of notepad and then attacks the merchant. According to the shopkeeper, the military police officer broke his chain, tore his shirt, and damaged a television and two counters. The victim also claims that the officer would have pointed a gun at him.
10/06/2023 – A doctor was a victim of the love scam in the neighborhood of Vila Brasilândia, North Zone, he set a date with a woman he met on a dating app, but when he arrived at the scene, he was kidnapped by two men. Criminals made multiple transfers via pix. After being released he registered the occurrence and went to work. During the shift, the doctor assisted a person who was a victim of a car accident, he recognized the patient as the bandit who had kidnapped him. The police were notified, now the criminal is hospitalized in police custody.
11/06/2023 – A police chase ended with two injured and a heavy collision between two vehicles, in Jardim dos Ipês, East Zone.
11/06/2023 – Two men were arrested, and two teenagers apprehended for kidnapping two victims on Rua Raul Pompéia, in Jardim Britânia, West Zone. The victims, two friends, were approached after falling for the love scam, when a false meeting is arranged through relationship apps. According to one of the victims, after a month of exchanging messages and trying to meet, he invited a woman to go to a friend’s party. She asked him to pick her up. The victim then asked a friend to go with him. Upon arriving at the indicated address, two men announced the kidnapping. The friends were forced back into the car and taken to a forested area. Through threats, criminals demanded bank account passwords to carry out transactions. Police officers were on patrol when they noticed a movement in the bush and threw their flashlights. Upon realizing the approach of the officers, the criminals tried to flee but were arrested.
12/06/2023 – A man was found dead on Rua Doutor Bitencourt Rodrigues, in Sé, in downtown São Paulo. The Military Police were called and found the victim dead, lying on the ground with his pants down and with an injury to his back. Investigations point out that the man was possibly stabbed to death.
12/06/2023 – A young woman was kidnapped while walking her dog in the Aricanduva region, East Zone. The victim said that she was trapped in a car with four men and was threatened all the time. The kidnappers wanted the victim’s money, but they couldn’t access the bank app on her cell phone. When her boyfriend started texting her, criminals responded by making threats. Initially, they wanted R$ 10,000, but the victim’s partner tried to negotiate. The boyfriend made a transfer of R$ 4,000 and, after that, he decided to call the police. Officers talked to her family and got a record of the young woman’s cell phone and, with that, her location. Police officers found the woman and dog unharmed, but the kidnappers had already fled. So far, no one has been arrested.
13/06/2023 – A lawyer was kidnapped, threatened, and forced to withdraw R$4,000 to give to criminals, in the Jardim Humaitá region, West Zone. According to the police, the victim was approached by the criminals near the house while talking to a friend on her cell phone, who noticed the action and warned the lawyer’s husband. The husband, in turn, called the Military Police and passed the tracking of his wife’s cell phone. Upon receiving the call, the corporation’s officers began patrolling with the tracking information. Still in the car, the criminals managed to withdraw R$ 4,000 from the victim, in addition to stealing the lawyer’s cell phone, money and watch. When the police saw the car, the duo tried to escape. After a chase, the criminals stopped in the Humaitá community. The two were arrested.
13/06/2023 – A military police officer was shot three times while trying to approach a group, in a suspicious attitude, in front of a winery, on Rua Caruxa, in the Campo Limpo region, South Zone. According to the Military Police (PM), the officer and his partner were on routine patrol when they suspected four men. The criminals were on foot, next to a liquor cellar. When officers gave a stop order to carry out the approach, they shot and then fled. The PM was hit by two shots in the bulletproof vest and by a third shot in the leg.
15/06/2023 – Police apprehended three teenagers after they kidnapped an app driver in the Jaraguá region, North Zone. The 43-year-old victim was triggered to make an app run in the region, but when picking up the passenger, he was approached by five criminals. The man was taken to a wooded area, beaten, tied, and threatened by the kidnappers, who had at least two guns. The criminals carried out bank transfers via Pix and were able to withdraw the money that was stored in the app account. The man was held hostage for about four hours. The Military Police found the victim after he managed to escape. Police officers searched the vehicle that was located and there was a chase. During the follow-up, the criminals lost control of the vehicle, collided against a pole, and were arrested.
16/06/2023 – Police arrested two kidnappers and freed a truck driver and his assistant from being held captive in a forested area in Taipas, North Zone. Police officers arrived at the scene after stopping a car and realizing that the vehicle was stolen. The men who were in the vehicle were arrested and at the police station they confessed to the kidnapping. Victims fell for the fake shipping scam. They accepted a freight on an app used by truck drivers and when they arrived at the marked location, they were kidnapped.
