In May, the São Paulo police seized 39.7 tons of drugs in the state, the equivalent of more than a ton per day during the period, according to data released by the Secretariat of Public Security. The value is 158.2% more than in the same month last year, when 15.4 tons of narcotics were seized. From January to May, the total number of drugs seized reached 93.6 tons, 14.6% more than last year. Arrests and seizures (when the offender is a minor) also went up. In May, 16,687 criminals were arrested and apprehended, 10.4% more than in the same month in 2022. From January to May, there were 79,846 against 72,746 in 2022, an increase of 9.8%. Other data also show increased police productivity in the state. There were 909 seizures of firearms in May this year against 805 in 2022. In the accumulated result for the year there were 4,658 seizures, against 4,225 last year, an increase of 10.2%.

23/06/2023 – A gang of about ten criminals robbed the Boulevard Monti Mare shopping center on Avenida Paulista, in Jardim Paulista, downtown São Paulo. The mall’s administrator said that a woman, who rented one of the stores, had gone to the place and told him that she was going to renovate the store. Other people got there later and said they were the woman’s helpers. At a certain point, they overpowered the security guards. Criminals fled taking objects from 28 stores.
23/06/2023 – A couple was shot inside a car after a robbery in Vila Moraes, South Zone. According to the Military Police, they were in the car when another car approached to rob them. The criminals then shot the couple and fled the scene.
24/06/2023 – A fight at a nightclub in the Grajaú neighborhood, South Zone, ended with three people dead and one injured. According to the Military Police, a customer tried to leave without paying and after a argument, he started shooting inside the place. The shooter fled and has not yet been identified by the police.
25/06/2023 – A market was looted on Avenida Rio Branco, in downtown São Paulo. According to witnesses at least 20 people participated. The establishment had its door broken into and was invaded by drug users from the Cracolândia region. It all happened after the police started an operation to combat drug trafficking.
25/06/2023 – At least 10 people were arrested for stealing cell phones during the Fanfarra – O Festival event, held at the Corinthians stadium, in Itaquera, East Zone. With the criminals, 31 cell phones were seized. Officers were able to identify the criminals after reports from witnesses who saw the thefts.
26/06/2023 – A doctor was held hostage for about 30 hours, after he felt for the dating app scam, in a captivity on Rua Joaquim Ferreira da Rocha, in Brasilândia, North Zone. Three men and a woman were arrested, and the victim released. The police arrived at the captivity after an anonymous tip. The criminals took out a loan of approximately R$ 180,000 in the name of the hostage. The victim reported that he was physically and psychologically assaulted.
26/06/2023 – Three teenagers returning from a soccer game were robbed and had their cell phones taken by two criminals on a motorbike in Vila Medeiros, North Zone. Security cameras recorded the moment when the motorcycle slows down and the man on the back gets off with the gun in his hand threatening the victims. The robbery lasted less than ten seconds.
27/06/2023 – A criminal was arrested after police chased a luxury vehicle on Avenida Sapopemba, in the São Rafael neighborhood, East Zone. The victim had her car stolen when she was leaving a church accompanied by her young son. When the police found the vehicle, they gave the driver a stop order, which he did not obey. From then on, there was a chase until the criminal lost control of the car and crashed into a bus.
27/06/2023 – An 18-year-old youth was arrested for sexually harassing at least five women who were jogging around Toronto City Park, in the City América neighborhood, North Zone. Videos from security cameras show what the man’s action was like. The victims reported to the police that, after chasing them for a long distance, the young man attacked them with slaps, slippers, squeezes and kisses on the buttocks.
28/06/2023 – Two men were arrested with more than 50 iPhones and about R$6,000 in cash in Praça da República, downtown São Paulo. Upon viewing the arrival of the car, the man outside the vehicle boarded the car and tried to flee.
28/06/2023 – Criminals invaded and robbed the apartment of an 88-year-old woman in downtown São Paulo. They rented an apartment in the same building for a few days, on an app, and went on to watch the lives of residents. When they realized that the lady was not at home, they broke in and robbed the apartment.
28/06/2023 – Armed criminals surrendered a woman who was taking her baby out of the car and stole her vehicle and belongings in Chácara Inglesa, South Zone. The crime took place in a condominium area guarded by private security companies.
30/06/2023 – A widespread fight took place in the reagion of Rua 25 de Março, in downtown São Paulo. The fight would have started with a misunderstanding between two merchants. In images that circulate on social networks, it is possible to see when two men start an argument on the sidewalk, soon after one of them takes off his cap and hits the other one, starting the general fight.
