SÃO PAULO SECURITY INCIDENTS – 5TH BULLETIN OF MARCH

The number of robberies followed by death and intentional homicides fell in February in São Paulo, but cases of rape, robberies, and thefts in general increased in comparison with the same month last year. According to data released on Monday (27/03) by the São Paulo State Secretariat for Public Security (SSP), there were 11 cases of robbery followed by death in February this year, against 17 in the same month of 2021. As for homicides, 223 cases were registered last month, down 4.3% compared to 2022. While the number of rapes increased again. In February alone, 1,110 cases of sexual crimes were reported, which represented an increase of 19.2% compared to February last year. Other crimes that also increased in February were robberies and thefts. Robberies went from 18,152 records last year to 18,418 this year. And the number of thefts increased further, around 10.7%, having gone from 39,765 occurrences to 44,001.
