08/12/2022 – On Wednesday afternoon (07/12), two armed men robbed an app driver in Rosa Nova da Penha neighborhood, in Serra. After requesting a ride they surrendered the driver and took him out of the car. He called the security forces and a police chase ensued. A 17-year-old suspect was apprehended a bit later in Jardim Bela Vista neighborhood.

12/12/2022 – A 28-year-old man was murdered this Tuesday morning (13), at km 268 of the BR 101, at the exit of the Jardim Tropical neighborhood, in Serra. The information was confirmed by the Federal Highway Police (PRF). Traffic on site, towards Vitória, was banned for the Civil Police’s expertise work.
13/12/2022 – An equipment maintenance company was invaded at dawn on Tuesday (13) in the Jacaraípe neighborhood, in Serra. The criminal took an industrial pressure cooker and an industrial blender. The damage was about R$ 3 thousand. When it was time to flee, the man jumped the wall of a house that is under construction and during the night there is nobody. The owner of the company reported that, in addition to thefts, residents complain about many robberies in the region.
13/12/2022 – A vehicle was stolen during a sale negotiation on the afternoon of Tuesday (13), in the Civit I neighborhood, in Serra. The victim had placed the ad on the internet and after weeks of talking to the alleged buyer, they arranged a meeting. The alleged buyer asked to start the car to check the engine. At that moment, to the car owner’s surprise, he drove away with the vehicle.
17/12/2022 – About 20 bus passengers experienced a moment of terror and panic during a robbery on Saturday night (17). During the action, the robbers even pointed a gun at a child’s head and hit one of the passengers with the gun butt.
18/12/2022 – A 16-year-old teenager was shot in the leg during a robbery on Sunday night (18) in Serra. According to the incident report, the couple were inside an app car, which was intercepted by two criminals. They announced the robbery and, at this moment, the teenager would have reacted, when he was hit by one of the robbers.
23/12/2022 – A 15-year-old teenager was shot at a bar in the Central Carapina neighborhood, in Serra, on Thursday night (22). According to the police, suspicious men drove by and shot the victim. No further information was given to the police after the crime.
24/12/2022 – A 32-year-old man, appointed as head of drug trafficking in the Vila Nova de Colares and Feu Rosa neighborhoods, in Serra, was arrested on Friday afternoon (23). The arrests took place on Rua Itaipu, in the Vila Nova de Colares neighborhood, in the municipality of Serra. The police went to the properties with search and seizure warrants.
25/12/2022 – A 23-year-old man was murdered and another shot on Saturday (24), in the Eldorado neighborhood, in Serra. According to witnesses, the victims passed through the neighborhood and criminals approached the two and took them to a forest area. He was killed with approximately ten shots. His colleague was shot, but managed to escape.
28/12/2022 – A 16-year-old teenager was killed with about 11 shots late Tuesday afternoon (27), in the Taquara I neighborhood, in Serra. The police were called and when they arrived on the street, they found the teenager’s mother and other family members around the teenager, who was already dead.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Robberies and thefts against pedestrians are among the city’s major risks, the Parque Residencial das Laranjeiras, Jardim Limoeiro, Carapina, Região das Laranjeiras and Novo Horizonte concentrate the highest number of incidents.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as he or she might not be alone or turn violent.
- Violent drug trafficking gangs are present in the city. People must never access areas controlled by them, such as Bairro de Fátima, Helio Ferraz, Jardim Carapina, all Novas Carapinas, Boa Vista, and São Diogo.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout: Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move unless you are sure that the gunfire has ended.
- Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas or beaches after nightfall.
- Be always cautious, even in the areas considered safe.
