02/01/2023 – A man was killed behind Parque Moscoso, in Vitória, on Sunday afternoon (01/01). Witnesses said he was beaten by four men. In fact, one of the murder weapons, a piece of wood with a nail, was left at the scene.

15/01/2023 – A 26-year-old man was shot early on Sunday (15/01) at a bar in the Bela Vista neighborhood, in Vitória. According to police, the region is known for intense drug trafficking activities.
16/01/2023 – A man was shot dead in front of family members. A 4-year-old child was there at the time and also witnessed the crime, which took place in Morro do Romão, in Vitória, on the night of 15 January.
19/01/2023 – A 16-year-old teenager was shot dead in the São Pedro neighborhood, in Vitória, on Thursday (19/01). The victim, identified as Rodrigo Eduardo da Silva, was shot 17 times and was taken by residents to the emergency room in the region.
22/01/2023 – Two thieves broke into a condominium and stole a bicycle early on Sunday (22/01), in Jardim Camburi, in Vitória. Video surveillance cameras captured the moment of the invasion.
23/01/2023 – A Transcol bus was robbed in Vitória this Monday afternoon (23/01). The criminal took all the passengers’ valuables and fled in another bus.
24/01/2023 – One man died and another was shot after a shootout in the Bonfim neighborhood, in Vitória. The shooting took place on Rua Jarbas Pinto Fraga, in a place known as the Workers’ Staircase, in the early afternoon of Tuesday (24/01).
30/01/2023 – A man was shot dead on Monday afternoon (30), on the steps of Morro do Cruzamento, in the Jucutuquara neighborhood, in Vitória. The place, according to the police, is known for intense drug trafficking and disputes over territories between rival factions.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- During summer months, petty crimes rise on the city waterfront. The Praia do Canto is particularly targeted by criminals.
- Crowded beaches and its vicinities should be avoided.
- Robberies and thefts against pedestrians are among the city’s major risks, the Centro (downtown), Jardim da Penha, Jardim Camburi, and Enseada do Sua concentrate the highest number of incidents.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as he or she might not be alone or turn violent.
- Violent drug trafficking gangs are present in the city. People must never access areas controlled by them, such as Bonfim, São Bento, Da Penha.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move unless you are sure that the gunfire has ended.
- Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas or beaches after nightfall. Avoid walking through tunnels.
- Be always cautious, even in the areas considered safe.
- Exercise caution in the Centro during the day and avoid the area after nightfall and during the weekends.
