The vast majority of women living in São Paulo (76%) have already suffered some type of violence during their commutes around the capital, especially on public transport, according to a survey carried out by the Patrícia Galvão and Locomotiva Institute, with support from Uber. Among the violence: 43% said they received insistent looks, flirted; 35% have suffered a robbery, robbery or express kidnapping; 30% suffered harassment, sexual harassment; 15% suffered prejudice or discrimination due to some characteristic of their own, except race; 12% suffered racism; 9% suffered physical aggression; 4% had suffered a rape. The percentage in São Paulo is slightly higher than the national average of 71%. While 26% of Brazilian women consider the streets of their city not at all safe, the percentage of women who make this negative assessment rises to 48% in São Paulo.

06/09/2024 – A 43-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, on Taperaçu Street, in the Cidade Antônio Estêvão de Carvalho neighborhood, in the east of São Paulo. Military police who reinforced security in the vicinity of the National Football League (NFL) game, on Friday (6), noticed that he was in a suspicious attitude, using his cell phone as if he were in control of some equipment. The team carried out the approach and, when the agents checked the suspect’s car, they found a weapon, loaded with 12 rounds.
06/09/2024 – A 37-year-old man and three women were arrested for scamming people, at Praça Padre Achiles Silvestre, in the Parque Monteiro Soares neighborhood, north of São Paulo. They are suspected of applying the “winning ticket scam”, especially among elderly people. This scam consists of deceiving victims, saying that if they lent a sum of money to help the suspects receive millionaire compensation, this amount would be returned in double as soon as the supposed reimbursement fell into the account. However, the victim was never reimbursed. With them, almost R$ 5,000 in cash, three cell phones, a vehicle, and business cards were seized.
06/09/2024 – The Civil Police found a clandestine laboratory with more than 4,000 vials of anabolic steroids in the region of Jardim Rincão, north of São Paulo. In the action, carried out on Friday (6), a 29-year-old man was arrested. Police officers from the 4th Special Corps for the Repression of Organized Crime (Cerco) were investigating a gang involved in the manufacture of these illicit substances. In addition to anabolic steroids, the teams seized needles, precision scales, a magnetic heating machine, and cell phones. Still at the scene, the suspect offered R$ 70,000 as a bribe to the agents not to be arrested.
06/09/2024 – A 20-year-old man died after trying to rob an off-duty military police (PM) officer on Friday morning (6), on João Zeltner Street, in the Parque Maria Helena neighborhood. According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the victim was not injured and had nothing stolen.
09/09/2024 – The Military Police seized, on Monday (9), about 200 bricks of marijuana that were packed in delivery packages from an e-commerce company. The drug was in a car approached in the Tatuapé neighborhood, in the east of São Paulo.
09/09/2024 – A facility used to dismantle stolen vehicles, which operated in a house, was closed on Monday (9) by the Military Police in Grajaú, in the south of São Paulo. In total, ten motorcycles that were being dismantled in the garage were seized, in addition to motors and signal blockers. At the address, police teams found several motorcycles already disassembled in the garage, with parts missing.
09/09/2024 – A 26-year-old woman was found dead with a head injury inside a property on Rua General Porfírio da Paz, in the Sapopemba region, in the early hours of Monday (9). During the investigations, the police learned that the suspect had been run over and was hospitalized. When he was arrested, he confessed to the crime. He claimed to have argued with the woman and assaulted her afterward.
10/09/2024 – The Federal Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of São Paulo, through the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) of the capital, launched on Tuesday morning (10/9) the second phase of “Operation Baal”. The action carries out searches and arrests related to members of a criminal organization focused on the practice known as “new cangaço”. The type of crime involves robberies of banks, armored cars, and ATMs in which heavily armed factions exercise territorial control of neighborhoods and even cities.
10/09/2024 – Confusion caused by the use of toy guns that shoot gel balls ended with 18 people arrested, including six teenagers, and a man injured in the eyes in Jardim São Luis, South Zone of São Paulo, on Tuesday (10). According to the Public Security Secretariat, military police were called to disperse a fight in the neighborhood. As soon as they noticed the vehicle, several people who had gel ball guns tried to flee. At the scene, the teams learned that the group was shooting at a commercial establishment where the victim was.
10/09/2024 – A counterfeiting scheme for sporting goods was dismantled on Tuesday (10) by police officers from the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic). Four suspects, who sold counterfeit T-shirts, coats, and key chains, were detained in businesses located in the central area and the east zone of São Paulo. After complaints, the teams began investigations and launched the operation, which targeted stores located in Brás, a popular shopping center in the capital of São Paulo, and other places in the east zone.
10/09/2024 – The Civil Police arrested a 19-year-old man on Tuesday (10) suspected of involvement with a cell phone theft and theft gang that operates in the central region of São Paulo. The suspect began to be monitored by the police after committing another crime, which was caught by security cameras, on 2 September in Barra Funda.
11/09/2024 – The Civil Police arrested 20 people suspected of being part of an organization specializing in the diversion and theft of cargo. Operation “Steel Horse”, of the General Investigations Police Station (DIG) of Itapeva, was carried out on Wednesday (11) in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Minas Gerais, and Bahia. The agents served arrest warrants and 65 search and seizure warrants in several cities in the state, including the Capital. According to the investigations, the criminals registered false police reports indicating the theft of the cargo to justify the diversion of goods. The damage calculated by the Civil Police reaches R$ 6 million.
11/09/2024 – The Military Police arrested a fugitive from justice in front of a housing complex, on Avenida Ragueb Chohfi, in São Mateus, in the east of the capital of São Paulo, on Wednesday (11). The 35-year-old man is suspected of being part of a criminal faction and being responsible for manufacturing and distributing weapons and ammunition in the states of São Paulo and Santa Catarina. Teams from the Special Police Actions Company (Caep) were on patrol when they noticed a man with a suspicious attitude. During the approach, they discovered the true identity of the suspect, who had two open arrest warrants for the crimes of drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, and criminal organization.
