The Santos Traffic Engineering Company (CET) warned about a scam that is being applied against people who have their vehicles towed in the city. A message is sent via WhatsApp as if it were from the company, in order to demand the payment related to the fees for the release of the towed vehicle. CET-Santos clarifies that it does not send messages to collect fees or make calls to owners of towed vehicles. The release is made exclusively in the municipal courtyard.

01/12/2024 – A 21-year-old young man, without a driving permit, hit a child during a chase with Military Police on Sunday (01/12), on Caminho São Manoel, in São Manoel. Upon being detained, according to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the suspect resisted. Residents were outraged by the police intervention. A 49-year-old resident was also detained in the riot.
03/12/2024 – The Federal Revenue Service seized about 450 thousand units of electronic cigarettes in a cargo that passed through the Port of Santos on Tuesday (03/12). The goods were packed in two containers, which were declared to contain toys, tools, computer accessories, auto parts, and musical instruments, but contained electronic cigarettes and vape refills (liquid nicotine). The cargo was valued at R$ 45 million.
06/12/2024 – Federal Revenue Service teams found more than 200 kg of cocaine hidden in a cargo at the Port of Santos on Friday morning (06/12). The drugs were in a shipment with 10 tons of frozen ginger, which was going to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
09/12/2024 – Two men were caught robbing an Oxxo Market in Washington Square, in the José Menino neighborhood, on Monday (09/12). After a chase with the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), one of the thieves was arrested. The other managed to escape.
09/12/2024 – Two men tried to steal a motorcycle on Vasconcelos Tavares Street, Centro, on Monday (09/12). When they were approached by the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), one of them confessed that they were going to unlock the vehicle to sell it. One was arrested and the other was heard and released. The motorcycle was returned to the owner.
13/12/2024 – A 19-year-old man was arrested by the Civil Police on Rua Carvalho de Mendonça, in the Marapé neighborhood, on Friday (13/12), for being involved in a fraud scheme with a criminal organization. According to the corporation, he admitted to having participated in several frauds involving cards and bank accounts. According to the Civil Police, he and his accomplices recruited bank accounts and obtained cards to make withdrawals and other transactions.
15/12/2024 – After kicking the door of an app driver’s car during a confusion, a 37-year-old man threatened municipal civil guards (GCMs), on Sunday (15/12), during the approach on Avenida Presidente Wilson, in José Menino. The suspect also allegedly said that his family was from the criminal faction First Command of the Capital (PCC). He was arrested.
16/12/2024 – The Federal Revenue Service seized 35 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Santos, on Monday (16/12). The drug, which was destined for the port of Sydney, Australia, was hidden in a cargo of açaí, in the structure of the container, in the part reserved for the refrigeration device.
20/12/2024 – A pharmacy of the Drogasil chain was robbed on Friday morning (20/12) by three armed bandits on Avenida Rei Alberto I, in Ponta da Praia. A patrol of the Military Police, upon being informed by the store supervisor about the theft, started a chase. With the help of camera monitoring, one of the suspects was located and approached. Of the more than R$5,000 stolen, R$3,113.00 were recovered.
27/12/2024 – A man, identified as a co-founder of the PCC, was arrested with two accomplices when he disembarked from a cruise ship in Santos, on Thursday (26/12). According to the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), the arrests are part of a joint operation by several Civil Police stations in the State of São Paulo, which aims to combat drug trafficking in the coastal region. In addition to the arrest of the trio, search and seizure warrants were also served at some addresses in Limeira, in the interior of the state. In one of them, more than 400 bricks of cocaine were found, as well as money, a money-counting machine, vehicles, and cell phones.

- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponto da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo and others.
- The waterfront has many incidents of opportunistic thefts, never display wealth and avoid walks there during the night.
- Residences in the of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves. Make sure your building is well protected.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, mobile phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and that negotiation may be lengthy.
