01/02/2025 – On Saturday (01/02), a man was arrested in his parents’ house on Estrada da Banqueta for homicide. On January 31st, he stabbed a rival to death in an apartment on Rua dos Predinhos, in the Banqueta neighborhood. The murder occurred after an argument with his wife, whom he found lying on the couch with the victim.

02/02/2025 – On Sunday (02/02), civil police arrested a 58-year-old woman, acting as a “mule” transporting weapons and drugs from the Complexo do Alemão, in Rio de Janeiro, to Morro da Glória, on behalf of the Red Command (CV). The arrest took place on the BR-101 highway during a routine operation. Officers found several firearms and a significant quantity of drugs hidden in the vehicle.
04/02/2025 – On Tuesday (04/02), the Civil Police arrested two suspects accused of attempting to assassinate a sailor in Ariró, on 25 January. The victim was shot multiple times and survived.
04/02/2025 – On Tuesday (04/02), the Civil Police arrested a fraudster operating in Angra dos Reis. The individual lured clients by offering to resell their vehicles but never transferred the proceeds to them.
04/02/2025 – On Tuesday (04/02), officers of the 33rd BPM recaptured a fugitive who had been sentenced to 17 years in prison for drug trafficking and criminal association, after six years on the run. He was arrested along with his wife in a residence on Rua Parati, in Japuíba.
04/02/2025 – A 57-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (04/02) on Rua Prefeito João Gregório Galindo, in Morro do Perez, accused of sexual abuse against a 9-year-old child in 2024. According to the Police, her grandmother made the complaint last year (2024), when she was informed by her granddaughter about the rape.
06/02/2025 – On Thursday (06/02), Angra dos Reis Civil Police conducted “Operation Cariocão,” resulting in the arrest of six individuals involved in drug trafficking across various neighborhoods, including Morro do Santo Antônio, Banqueta, and Jacuecanga. Out of ten arrest warrants issued, eight have been fulfilled, with two still pending.
11/02/2025 – On Tuesday (11/02), a couple was arrested in the Morro Vai Quem Quer community, in the Monsuaba neighborhood, for drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy. They received narcotics from the Maré favela in Rio de Janeiro to resell in the Costa Verde region. During the operation, police seized cocaine, an illegal inhalant, ammunition, and a firearm.
13/02/2025 – A man sentenced by the São Paulo justice system to 25 years in prison for child rape and on the run for two years was arrested on Thursday (13/02), in the Promorar do Campo Belo community, an area controlled by drug trafficking. The operation was carried out jointly by the police forces of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
14/02/2025 – On Friday (14/02), a 24-year-old man was arrested in the Monsuaba neighborhood on drug trafficking charges. The suspect was apprehended during an operation targeting drug trafficking. A struggle ensued during the arrest, leading police to shoot the suspect twice in the leg.
16/02/2025 – On Sunday (16/02), a 58-year-old bar owner was shot and killed in his establishment in the Caputera neighborhood. The murder occurred in the morning in an area known as ‘Buraco Quente’.
22/02/2025 – A 19-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday, February 22, 2025, while attempting to flee the police in Morro da Caixa D’Água. Police officers from the 33rd BPM were conducting an operation against drug trafficking when they spotted and intercepted her. According to her statement, she had been recruited by the Comando Vermelho to treat injured traffickers and manage the counting of drug sales. In her bag, the police seized various types of drugs, communication radios, and logistical equipment.
23/02/2025 – Two young men were stabbed to death at the entrance to Morro da Fortaleza in Angra dos Reis on the night of Sunday (23). The suspects, a couple, were caught red-handed by the Military Police while sitting at a bar near the crime scene. A police investigation is underway to determine the motive for the murder.
24/02/2025 – A young woman was arrested on February 24, 2025, in Japuíba for drug trafficking and child abandonment after leaving her 5-year-old disabled daughter alone at home. Alerted by a report, agents from the 166th DP found the child lying on a mattress and discovered 24 pinos of cocaine during a search. The mother could not justify her prolonged absence or the presence of the drugs, and the child was placed in the care of her maternal grandmother.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking are also registered every week.
- If you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- lay on the ground and seek a solid cover.
- If you are in your car, the engine block is a good barrier behind which you could seek protection.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from any windows, and do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba, Japuíba, Frade, Bracuí, Morro do Santo Antônio, and Morro da Glória I and II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas and after nightfall.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of property crimes, thefts, and robberies.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
