BELÉM SECURITY INCIDENTS – JUNE MONTHLY BULLETIN

Between January and April 2025, the state of Pará recorded a 41% increase in missing persons cases compared to the same period in 2024, rising from 290 to 410 reports. Despite many being located later, families often fail to update police records. Authorities stress the importance of prompt reporting to facilitate investigations, especially in cases involving mental illness, drug use, or vulnerable individuals. Special services exist for missing children and teens, who often vanish due to family conflict. The ongoing case of a 61-year-old man missing since August 2024 highlights the personal toll and relentless search by relatives.

02/06/2025 – On Monday (2), a 55-year-old man was hit and dragged by a car in the Guamá neighborhood, in what police are investigating as an attempted homicide. Security footage shows the vehicle running over the victim and dragging him for several meters. The driver briefly stopped, reversed, then accelerated again before fleeing without providing assistance. The man was rescued by his sister and taken to the Guamá emergency unit with head injuries and abrasions but remained conscious. The suspect later turned himself in and took the car to the police station, where it was seized for forensic analysis.
