30/06/2022 – Federal Highway Police carried out an operation on BR-101 highway near Macaé. Three men were arrested, and 5 Kg of cocaine were seized. Officers identified drivers of two vehicles in a suspicious attitude. One of them was approached while the second vehicle tried to escape and crashed into an obstacle on the highway.
01/07/2022 – A man was killed during a robbery in the Santa Monica neighborhood. According to the Military Police, the agents were called to Cinco Street, close to the Petrobras towers, to verify the crime. At the scene, officers found the man already dead.

05/07/2022 – The police arrested three men suspected of robberies after a shooting. According to the Military Police, the trio were committing several robberies in Conceição de Macabu, a city neighboring Macaé. After being found on the BR-101, a chase began and the criminals shot at the police, there were no injuries. The suspects were arrested in the Plaza Franco neighborhood. With them, two pistols and a revolver were seized, in addition to the car and some stolen belongings.
10/07/2022 – A young man was killed during a shooting between criminals and the Military Police in Bosque Azul neighborhood. According to the police, agents of the Tactical Actions Group (GAT I and II) were patrolling the main street of the community when they had their attention turned to an man on the run, which led to the shootout.
16/07/2022 – A body was found tied up and shot in the Granja dos Cavaleiros neighborhood. Military Police were called early in the afternoon, for the occurrence of a body found. At the scene, officers found the victim already dead. According to the forensic evidence, the cause of death was due to a gunshot wound.
19/07/2022 – A man, known as ‘Pekeno’, was arrested with drugs in Nova Holanda neighborhood during a search by teams from the Tactical Action Group (GAT) and the Military Police Reserved Service (P2) in the community. According to the police, the criminal acts as a “supplier” for drug dealers.
22/07/2022 – A transvestite was shot during an attempted robbery in the Aroeira neighborhood. According to information, the victim tried to run away from the criminals but ended up being hit by the shots. The victim was taken to the hospital but did not resist.
22/07/2022 – A teenager was apprehended after a robbery in the Riviera Fluminense neighborhood. The capture took place after the victim informed the Military Police (PM), that he had been stolen by two men, who took his motorcycle. The stolen motorcycle and a simulated pistol used in the robbery were seized with the teenager.
23/07/2022 – A man suffered an attempted murder in Praça da Ampra, in Parque Aeroporto. Residents reported a chase, followed by a shooting. The victim was taken to the Municipal Public Hospital (HPM), where he remained hospitalized. There are still no clues about the authorship and motivation of the criminal action.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
