The operation blocked 25 containers of raw crystals in a series of attempts at irregular export and underreporting, which would cause a billion-dollar loss to Brazil. The exporting company lacked the necessary legal documentation to prove the lawful origin and environmental licenses, constituting the crime of mineral usurpation.
